Has anyone got a Mini? I bought one as my first car in the summer and ive been working on it alot recently, I just blew alot of money on twin SU carbs and im ordering my new exhaust system today I'll have some pics up soon. Would anyone happen to know if i would have to upgrade my fuel pump to supply the twin carbs?
minis totally pwn i bought one for £75 at 16 and got it roadworthy. unfortunatley i had to sell it to fund my uni adventures My mate across the road here is building a nice 1330 for his which is goin to be sweet as. What size you using there? what exhuast is it? if you still have the mechanical fuel pump then you'll probably have to upgrade.
I've got a '92 Cooper, unfortunately it's an injection. It's got a stage 3 head, 1.5 rockers, K&N filter & Maniflow LCB & twin box exhaust though which makes it abit better.
I used to compete in a little mini - started at 998cc and ended up with a 1440 unit. Back in the day...(Okay about three years ago)...but it got to the point where I just couldn't afford it. *n
I'm starting to see them more and more where I live. They're turning into a kind of "yuppie" mobile on par with the new VW Bug - I think that Chevrolet dealers sell them. The good thing is that the steering wheel is on the correct side
Dad - I think they are talking about proper "British" mini's not the new German BMW ones. j03 - Don't forget the " Your only supposed to blow the doors off" sticker in the back window.
Ive got a few Im building a kinda custom road racer spec. Full race 1430cc turbod motor (Built by RADCO Engineering) Spaceframe front subframe Coilovers 7.9discs (6pots) Rear Beam axle Fully deseamed custom rear lights Flip front & alot more (thats the planned spec. ive only just finished the body shell ) Im also building a more budget road car spec. 1978mini 1000 body painted fiat yellow 1100cc fast road engine fully l&b. aprox 70bhp Cooper s 7.5" Discs Fully adustible suspension 100+ minilights with split rim conversion & more Im also planning a Pickup with A mid mounted 24v Cossie V6 renault 21 turbo box Spaceframe Radical & Ford running gear Minis are the best!
the BMW mini's are junk. there poping up left and right in the states i just love how people dont realise how stupid they are driving one. lol what a joke.
Why? Because theyre economical? Because they can turn? Because they can brake? <alig> Iz it becoz It aint got V8? </alig>
I don't like the new minis myself, but they're good cars if that makes sense. i just don't like the style.
i believe its the power steering pump. I do like the new ones but given the choice id go for the classic anyday on the subject of V8's ive seen a few V8 powered minis on the net and miniworld. Have to see if i can find some links.
Minis rock! Mine was tahiti blue with a white roof. I put headlamp eyebrows on it and a wooden gear knob!
hmm not a good combo... I think the pistons might hit on the way past each other might get a wee bit of block flex too! lol if you are putting twin carbs on a 1275 or a 998 and they are su's then you won't have to upgrade the fuel pump... you are still supplying the same amount of fuel. (roughly) if you put a higher pressure pump in you will just push the fuel out of the overflow I have twin su's on my 1275gt and its running std mechanical pump. --=] J [=--
I got my mini up and running today, it ran for a whole 3 mins then the shoddy electrics kicked in and it died. I had to push it home about half a mile (lucky i drive a mini ) I'm going to have a go at fixing it tommorow, hopefully it will just be a loose cable or fuse.
Hard luck mate - mini's kick ass; even without much customisation, just a nice cooper, decent really lights, checkered roof and some nice touches here and there, ye've got a classic
