...Everyone has to pay for it. That's why it's optional content. ?

pc gamers paying for addon is going to go the same way of games for windows live asking us to pay for online.

    aint gonna happen.

PC based expansions have been around for a long, long time. This is nothing new or incomprehensible.

And Live doesn't ask for online pay.

Yeah but this sounds like a map pack not an expansion pack. I guess we're all spoiled by valve releasing map packs for free however I for one intend to remain spoiled, £6 for a map pack, your all right.

Live did ask for funds, no one paid now its free, go figure.

Whenever I see a headline that says "product_x dated," my first reaction is "Oh, it looks old-fashioned? Perhaps I won't bother."

This mappack remindes me of Defrag mod for Quake3. A lot of maps in different styles and environments just to have some fun. Still I'm not sure if it's worth "some" money, especially that community maps are usually "the best of the best" (ofcourse not all of 'em).

Why pay for it - people will work out how to make the maps (and better ones) themselves for the PC.

Why are people making a fuss? Expansion packs have been around for ages. I just can't help but feel people resent anything Microsoft/EA attempt to do these days, even if it doesn't involve eating children.

Also DLC itself has had fairly bad press from the get-go, though I'd say thats deserved -

    Horse Armour? Come on...

Oh and Dead Space's "Red Armour." Kind of reeks of desperate money grabbing. Might be a good idea for canny marketing execs to advertise this extra content as "expansion packs" instead, to distance themselves from Bethesda's folly.

Well, the link for the official Mirror's Edge site made me laugh a little. The top of the page says "PLEASE SELECT YOUR COUNTRY". Apparently, the U.S. flag represents the country of North America. I wasn't aware of us absorbing both Canada and Mexico in the past day or so.
