What makes this good is not how it looks outside - it's actually not that hard to take some weird shape and stuff a computer inside. What makes this great is what's inside and how it works. To put that in car terms this is not taking a traditional car and slapping on some fancy paint and a stupidly large tail fin - this is taking a traditional shape and doing radical work inside.
If you were expecting flash and sparkle then sorry. If you think my case isn't unique, then please point out one that has all of the same features. I'm not the kind of person that picks out a case because of how it looks. I'm trying to design a case that's FUN and easy to tinker with. More like a Lego set than a computer. I'm more interested in how easy it will be to remove or reinstall cooling equipment. I don't change out motherboards all that often, but I do tinker with my cooling setups endlessly.
actually i disagree with Argonautz i think this case might not be the flashiest but definitley looks like one of the best and nicest SIMPLE but elegant case designs i would buy one might i add beacuse of the simplicity that resembles craftsmanship of a lian li case btw captian slug what cad softwares do u use for ur all ur drawings thanks im planing to do a mod in the future buy first want to make sure im 100 percent on everything and the models u have made look accurate
The prototype designs for this case were made a loooong time ago in Milkshape 3D, which isn't really meant for designing thing you plan to machine because it's a simple low-poly extrusion program. If you want to design something you plan to machine, use a Solid CAD program. http://www.alibre.com/xpress/ is what I use for work and for projects. The free version and the full version are both much easier to learn how to use than most of the other titles I've tried. The full version includes more advanced modeling tools (namely for work with sheet metal). You can design a part then output a mechanical drawing that you can use as a guide for machining the part, or even as a stick-on template.
yea i tried milkshape and i agree have u tried autocad 07 or 05 but im ganana try that program u linked me to thanks
OMG , it's arrived!!! Now I0m so curious to see the whole assembly! I go with your philosophy Capt Slug, modding for me is not an estetic pleasure, the fun is to mantain the case "anonimous" and the internal really clean and powerful. For me, but for my wife modding is something different... :-]
you are a pretty sad modder... you're very... uninformed. no offense, I'm pretty sure you're still a fun person to be around. (if you don't realize that a modular system like the one captainslug is making is completely unique, innovative, and plain awesome, you really shouldn't be commenting.) BTW: slug, are you ever gonna get around to finishing that Nerf Gatling gun? lol. I saw you're working on rev2 already since your first rendition didn't mechanically work.
I'm looking forward to your implementation of the panels in the case itself. Nice work to both you and Soulmage.
Some good news today: So far acupuncture seems to be working. Over spring break I will be reorganizing my work spaces so that they are less prone to chaos. And I should be able to get the plug-bus finished in the next week so I can finally test it.
Sweet its good to know somthing if finally able to help you out! My uncle is a chiropracter and also does acupuncture. He has done it on my lower back a few years ago and its amasing what a few well placed needles can do
omg. how could i have not caught this worklog. ive read till my eyes were sore thank u slug, i didnt finish my homework because of ur beautiful case =D
You're welcome. At present I'm kind of avoiding computers. The same problem that halted Metal Slug also plagues this machine (needing to replace waterblock tops) and I don't have the where-with-all to do it right now. Edit: As of now it doesn't look like I will have any usable free time until August.
Everything about this mod is perfect, from the concept to the tons of detail. I am truly in awe at your skills. Beautiful work.
