Does anyone have any suggestions for a good MMORPG (or -FPS, for that matter). I don't really have anything to do, and I have beaten most of my ~50 games. I was looking towards Star Wars: Galaxies or City of Heroes. Also, I need a game that would be fun to play with a buddy, all the way through.

    Thanks for any help!

For an MMO I would recommend what I'm currently playing, Planetside. It does require a pretty powerfull computer to run propelly.

As for something fun to play with a buddy, that has to be neverwinter nights coop if you haven't already. The original works perfectly cooperativly.

The first expansion (Shadows of Undrentide) works fine as long as you play it at the patch level it installs at (One of the later patches introduced a bug that requires someone to join using the DM Client and move all the players to the correct spot :/ ). The second expansion (Hordes of the Underdark) is also superb - but unless they have fixed it in a recent patch needs some light modding to work smoothly coop.

Are you still playing, biosniper? I found the patch they released last week gave a pretty good improvement in framerate - the actual connection has never been a problem for me (well, except for today! Doh!)

lots of people used to play that planetshift at my old work.

i got told of a story once, when one of my collegues went on one night and played for a few hours and one of his mates was on there

he woke up the next morning, played for 30 mins or so, the guy was still playing

came back from work, yet again he was stilll playing, aventualy later that night, his character was there but didnt more. the guy had played for abour 24 solid hours, with out stoping (appart from f00d, and nature) and had fell aslead at his computer

If you want a good mix of FPS and MMORPG, I suggest Neocron.

It's got great cooperative capabilities and a huge world map. Vehicles, PVP, PVE, Economic system, set in the future & expansions planned.

Yeah. SWG is pretty cool. It can be lonley without other people so a group of friends is a good idea even if its just 1 other person. if you really get into it you could join a "guild" with many other people. Its pretty cool. Play.com are selling it for £18 right now if you are in the UK :thumb:

play imperial conflict. (www.imperialconflict.com I think, lol)

It's an economic/military multiplayer net game.. about 2000 players or so in a galaxy, and you start off with a planet each. You build, explore, fight, make deals etc. It runs continuously with 1 hour in the real world being 1 week in the game (or something similar, hard to remember) and the game runs for 2-3 months of real-time before a leader's board being drawn up and the game resetting. It's great fun but terribly addictive (be warned!!!)

I played for about a year a couple of years back, but stopped in the end because it was interfering with my college work. (In order to get into the top 100 or so, you have to be logging in and checking your empire literally every couple of hours if possible for the whole two months.. destroys your social life, but it's great fun. :)

Hmm, that sounds too involved. We aren't really you average hardcore gamer. Something that we can log in to and have some fun on a regular basis would be cooler. Does anyone have any input on City of Heroes?
