    Wow great designs everyone!

@ Cheap - you look almost done !?
@ Jesse - I like it dude, can really see some architectural flare coming out in the design :hip:
@ Seth - Have no idea what it is or what its going to look like but I like it :thumb:

I had play about for an hour or so and made something that doesnt resseemble a case what so ever lol. So i'm still Idea less :(

If that's no example for a computer case that resembles out of the box thinking I don't know what is. You could hide the PSU and/or some watercooling bits like the pump in the lower section and showcase your hardware in the upper section that draws all the looks. Remember, it does not need to be easily assembled, it only needs to be buildable if you priorize looks. Just imagine it in someone rich's living room: If it takes a few weeks to assemble who cares? Langer priorizes function to some extend, but he has to actually build his design. Be like Apple if you want to: Function follows form. :thumb::clap:

@Cheaps: What are you trying to achieve? We might be able to help you out a bit... It's also about pushing the boundaries of Sketchup, there might be an easier way to get the result you want.

@AG - Nothing lolling around in my brain can be put into words.:hehe:
@Editor - I had a few rain days here. There's a lot of cleanup to do. I wasn't sure what to make of what you built. Scrolling down the page very slowly gave me the wrong impression before I saw the whole pic...
-You should call it the "dongputer".:eyebrow:

    Ty for the comments :)

I've been working on the components, taking a long time though, feel like I'm building a mini universe inside my design lol.

Finally got something 3D to sort of show, its going down a distinctly 'steampunk' road. While not realistic im going for bellows and Archimedes screw powered water cooling :eyebrow:

@1384 - Whoah! That thing's going to be huge! Why not use double canister system for the water pump? Like what was used on old fire engines?
@Sethnmalice - Dude, raid the component's collection for that stuff. Even the motherboard details can be cut and pasted from another if you're building a specific board.

Quick animation just for fun to show the segmented doors. Im not happy with the overall design yet just trying out ideas. (trying to get away from the "satanic webber grill" look :D~ cheaps)

Let me know what you think!

Edit: Changed colors and added 1080P

Haven't had much time to get much done. I'm going down a money no object home server/rendering cluster design with 64 ssd's!!!!!!

Here's my initial concept, only thought about how the 64 SSd's will be mounted so far:

The finished system will come in at between 1 and 1.5 metres tall, and the entire thing will be suspended from the ceiling. MiniITX boards with the most powerful CPU's supported will be used as both the main system for the server and for the rendering cluster (amount not decided yet).

The rest of the system will reside within the double helix of the ssd's. Cooling will take advantage of heat naturally rising, coupled with a complex watercooling system running up the centre.

A bit nuts, but why not.

@Cheapskate, I still dont know how to do that, don't know a lot about sketchup really, besides I had fun drawing my own motherboard :)

I know its not super accurate, but at least it still looks like a motherboard.

Yay somebody took my custom motherboard idea from the last round and ran with it for this one.

Design contest? Why not design everything XD

@roboduck - :eeek: Me like. How thin are the panels if you got them to stack so nicely.
@Dullonien - From the ceiling? It's going to look like a robot jellyfish... Although a robot Man-O-War would be cool looking.
-Wait... The Empire Strikes back did that one already.:(
    @Motas - Don't give up!

    Keep going!

    Thanks!

Its 20 gage steel so 0.0359", its a little on the thin side but I didn't want thick chunky panels and it would have created a big gap between the bottom of the door panels and the base. I was thinking it might be easier to make them out of carbon fiber to keep the strength and rigidity up.

Im still trying to figure out how to get away from the "satanic webber" look :hehe:

-A single gooseneck leg mounted near the back.
-No legs. Hang it from the ceiling like Dullonien.:D
-Remove the legs, add a lot of weight to the base, and have a 'Weebil-Wobble' case.:naughty:

I've decided to sesiblefy (I know that's not a word) my design somewhat. It's still going to hang from the ceiling and include 64 storage drives in a double helix pattern, but I've decided to use standard 2.5" drives instead of the ssd's I proposed earlier. I'm sure in a few more years, using ssd's will be feasable, but untill then I decided it was a little silly to design something which would cost thousands on the storage alone.

'Aint got any more to show yet though.
