Hmm... I don't know if I will enter this contest... I simply have a real hard time coming up with a nice simple design that fits this theme.. or word, whatever. But oh well, I still have a few weeks, I might come up with something :)

Long way from finishing it, but wanted to get my idea in.

I have exported into photoView 360, but not added materials or textures as i find it far easier to output an image this way.

Also i have left the resolution low.

And a little size comparison between this and my Mocha70 project based on a Lian Li PC-70

Intention of this is to replace my workstation in the near future, i shall keep the specification close for now...

@Dullonien - Nothing here should be feasible. This about being as crazy as possible. You could build the case with 100 SSDs and cover it with diamonds.
    -It's just a concept.:D
@Burnout - I like, but that looks suspiciously like a render. -Low resolution or not.

A word of advice, kiddies: If you work in SU, don't build anything rotated in 2 axis. The snap, the rendering...EVERYTHING starts freaking out on a skewed object.:waah:

PhotoWorks is a rendering software/add-in and will not be allowed. I believe you are using SolidWorks as PhotoWorks is a SolidWorks add-in. You can save an image directly from the modeling window by using Save As...- .JPEG or .PNG. If you modeled using SolidWorks/Sketchup your images must be from SolidWorks/Sketchup.

I actually used PhotoView 360 (typo), which yes is a render engine, but as I mentioned nothing has been added to the model.

Do you also want me to disable realview as well in order to export jpegs? Because there is sod all difference.

I've been using Solidworks since 2006, so i am a veteran of solidworks you could say.

    Edit

jpeg export with realview switched off

You don't have to disable realview (with realview on it matches sketchup fairly closely), just don't use PhotoWorks or PhotoView 360.

Edit: If you are really concerned about how it looks you can use "Shaded" view instead of "Shaded With Edges", the lines can sometimes ruin the appearance of a smooth abstract surface.

@burnout - Still looks good. I wonder if you could make it look 'morefaster' if you removed a half-inch high strip of the base near the back. Everything should look like it's moving in my book.:hehe:
@1384 - Water goes into gears... that power the pump... that moves water with a screw. -perpetual motion! You win the 'most crazy' award. -Just kidding. We all know the pump will be powered by a windmill.:D
    @disturbed - Gaaaah! Too close!

I got ya cheaps, cut the rear to sweep it back, thus giving it a motion line

Internally its very unconventional, and i think the case is actually oversized for what I intend, but air volume is a handy thing to have! lol!

    Edit,

wanted the case to have some feet, or should I say foot.

That has one big problem if you want to build it. The foot will eat a lot of raw material, where the 'L' shape of the original could be stacked to use about 1/10th the amount of sheet.
I was thinking something simple, like this:

    Fear my MS-Paint skillz!:hehe:

The contest is about throwing ideas around. Feedback is mandatory, but doing what others tell you is not.:p

Also, That last design of yours has a happy face!

It would consume a huge amount of material, and even though i like the look, it in fact becomes too tall for my liking.

:p Just post some porn already.:hehe:

-This is as for as I'm going on the front. Getting it to this point was excruciating.
    -Peek-a-boo lid.
-With the grating, I could only get the very top radiator open 52 degrees. It's probably easier on the tubing anyway. Not sure if there's any collision if you open both sides at once, but I know there is if you do one side at a time.
-Open all the way. It still needs some feet to get the PSU side off the floor. If you want an optical, there's room to slap one under the frame.
-And there's the reason I've been so quiet. %^*%$# angles in SU suck!!!!!

I might not make the deadline either. Work has been keeping my really busy and my HDD is dying on my gaming rig/CAD workstation.

    @Cheapskate

I LOVE the unfolding design! My only question is how are all the cables and tubes going to fit in the case when collapsed, seeing as they still need to be long enough to allow it to open? Still an awesome design, I like how your using the res as the hinge.:thumb:
