Umm quick question: Who would like the deadline bumped to 31 Jan? I'm struggling, a lot of personal events recently have chewed up and spat out my time (i.e. my partner being assaulted by her 'friend' with a wine bottle, she now has some brain damage and is blind in one eye (hopefully not permanent, pending brain surgery after she gives birth to our second child). My partner's 36 weeks pregnant btw.)

 

Holy **** confusis, that's some bad news you have there! I'm sure i speak for all of us that you dont even need to ask this question! I would feel really bad if some nerdy contest would take precedence over that, please make sure you get through this as best you can, and worry about us later! All the best wishes to you and especially to the missus, are you guys handling it ok? I really hope you can recover enough emotionally to feel the pride and joy from your child's birth!

Hope things work out, the other person involved says my partner swung first and is filing assault too. My partner is very gentle and pregnant ffs so I don't see why she would have swung first!

I will hopefully get the render server going soon, have to remove a couple fans to make it silent so there's no complaints from the missus's mum!

We're taking my partner back to the hospital on Tuesday to see a specialist. She had a MRI and the doc said there was a few things not right. I'm so scared of losing her, and the baby :/

Anyway, i'm rooting for you on the opposite side of the globe, so anytime you need cheering up, somebody to rant at or just a big family hug, stamp your feet really hard and i'll get right on it

Geez man thats some really terrible news, like Xtrafresh said put the deadline back as long as you need I think all 5 winners will understand and if any of them don't then they have some serious issues

It's appreciated guys. I was so far along in planning and organising my business now we basically have to leave town! Luckily I haven't invested in it in this town and in the new town we're moving to the same market niche exists unfilled

I don't know about Kiwi law, but here that's 2 counts of assault for the price of one. It doesn't matter what lies they come up with, They attacked and injured a unarmed pregnant woman with a weapon.
-These contests are bad juju for the hosts! Modgodtanvir dropped off the face of the Earth during the first. Xtrafresh had bad stuff hit him and dropped out for a bit during the second.

Not sure if its two counts of assault but it's assault causing grievous bodily harm with a WEAPON, criminal property damage, and now the death threats

 

Check it out because in the US that 2 counts of assault - 1 for the Mom and one for the child even if unborn.

You know the B-T rules as well as the rest of us. Family first! do what you have to do.

Life gets in the way a lot. My teenager has been in the hospital under mental health hold and suicide watch since Fri. afternoon. We will put you guys in our "God Bless" list.

Still, allow me to spot the silver lining of how our collective hobby is bringing us together. I would've been oblivious to your hardships, but now i really do care and feel bad for/with you. That goes for both John and confusis by the way, you guys have both been part of my community feeling since i joined bit-tech. My hat off to you guys for even reporting back here, i didn't when things were rough on me.

Update: The docs rechecked the CT scan, no damage there should be causing the blindness so we are seeing an ophthalmologist today. Thankfully NZ has free emergency healthcare

 

I haven't been active here much after the deadline went out, and I am not well-known around here, but I wanted to offer my sympathies to both jhanlon303 and confusis. Hope everything works out for you, and sorry if I overstep any boundaries by saying this as an stranger.

 

Ouch! John, confusis - good luck to both of you and your families, hopefully the year doesn't start as it means to go on (oh, and hopefully the offending party gets accidentally fed into a woodchipper, confusis).

 

offender is being charged with Grievous Bodily Harm. minimum 2 years in prison and serious repercussions for her future life when it comes to police checks for future jobs. Permanent record.
