    nice confusis ! :D

i've always wanted to have a multi cpu m-atx motherboard, but would be better with intel I7 cpus xD

Thinking about it I will probably change the sockets to amd socket f or even better g34. mmmm 48 cores on an m-atx. I may have to bend the rules and create a power distribution mezzanine or card as there is no way I can fit all of the caps and mosfets required on the board.

socket 940 it is :) Too much effort reconfiguring the mainboard, when I could be designing the
    custom rack case
    entry

Yo confusis; you could always pop caps et-all on the underside of the board too, just need extra long stand-offs.

    A 240 to cool 4cpu's and a gpu?

Confusis and Seth are in!:D
@Sethn - You might like this link too. SU plugins.:D Editor sent me that link.
@asura - That's what I was wondering.:hehe: It's hard to stay SFF when the rig needs insane amounts of radiator. BTW, Dark... How many radiators would the setup you supplied require in real life? 360 seems a little light.

    i don't really know  but shouldn't 2x240 be enough ?

I don't really know either, just working off assumptions... Let's find out... :geek:

A quick check on Wikipedia tells us that socket 940 (that's what you were using right) rates it's self as a max TDP of 89W. The 5870 has a TDP of 188W, so add this to our 356W from the processors for a grand total of 544W.

A flitt to Skinnee's labs (unfortunately no 240 rad's so we'll just have to extrapolate - 550W as 2/3 gives 275W as 1/3 and 825W as 3/3) and we get a set of figures for (lets assume the HW that you've got in your model) your radiator... we can see that with 2.8Krpm fans you can expect a water delta-t of approx 7.5 degrees-C (and some very sore ears). A more realistic speed let's go for 1.5Krpm, sitting in the middle ground between noisy and quiet, for that we get a disappointing delta-t of approx 17.5 degrees-C. Skinnee reckons a 15 degree delta t is "Low Performance, an overloaded but capable loop." And for a quiet (sub 1Krpm) well, that's so far off the graph even guessing is hard... about 50-60 degrees-C...

So, yes (and this quite surprised me) you can run that on one 240 rad . Just don't expect to be getting any awards for a quiet, or cool pc. You'll be creating a luke warm turbo jet.

***Just read your last post... 2X240's, I saw only one... oops. Well, for 2X240's... That gives us a low, medium, and high delta-t of 28, 8.5, and 3.5 degrees-C respectively. That's still assuming a HW GTX(s) doesn't take several small variables into account, including thermal output of pump, etc.***

Looking at the plan, that's not going to be the cooling solution.

    Can anyone say lots
    18x120
    of radiatorness

(188)2+130=504=7.5% less TDP. i.e. see above it's, for all intents and purposes the same.

Of course, if you want to overclock the cpu, things get a little hairy, the "extreme power supply calculator" says that an i7 oc at 4Ghz & 1.55V will yeald 325W, which changes things considerably. Taking you up to 701W (525 comparative) which, using the same "low, medium, and high" fan speeds gives us delta-t's (punk-tuition Cheesecake) of 37(guess-tamated), 11, and 4.5 degrees-c.

I should totally go and work out mine now... Ahh, it's all good. Will post a progress pic on Sunday/Monday, once I narrow down the arrangement.

Of course remember that's for HWLabs GTX, a very THICK rad; results for other radiators will vary, some considerably.

 More like portable space heater cheesecake. Why don't you house the thing in a central AC heat exchanger. 18x120...Dual Mora?

-More ideas... This will be an attempt at steampunk.

-and more fused radiators. This time I even fused the reservoir to the rads. The two knobs on top are going to look like vacuum tubes when finished.
I still can't get the design down to SFF.

Since I am already making my version of SFF bliss, I will hold off until next year. I do however have an excellent design for a server, if we ever have that type of contest.

BTW, the black anodized feet are EXTREMELY nice prizes for the lucky winner.
