Hi guys, it's that time again!
In a week or so I will be announcing full details of the next contest, with myself as your host and MNPCTech (awesome as usual) sponsoring!

This round will be based on an existing case, but you're entitled to go nuts with it! Case will be revealed at the start of the contest.

This will be a one month long contest, with a community vote at the end to decide the top 3 placings. The contest is not restricted to any software, as long as the final entry is NOT rendered! (ensures a level playing field in regards to eye candy, etc)

I won't be competing as I need to focus on being a host + other demanding things IRL.

Who will be entering? What program will you be using? And the biggest question, can your software import .skp files for the base PC case model? If not I need to know, and any offers of help converting files (in full secrecy, in order to prevent headstarts) to suit people's preferred CAD program.

Also, who would I PM in regards to (hopefully) a front page spot on BT to promote the contest?

Full rules will be listed at the start of the contest, but heres the gist

    1) Contest starts at 8am on 16th May 2011 and will run to 8am 16th June 2011
    2) Winners will be selected by a community vote
    3) Confusis is not allowed to enter
    4) No renders!
    5) This contest is in no way affiliated with Bit-Tech, Custom PC, or Dennis Publishing
    6) You are not restricted by your location, worldwide entry!
    7) Entry must be based on the
    [censored]
case, the model of which was lovingly crafted in Sketchup by
    [censored]
    8) Have fun! We've had numerous reports of contestants once again faking having fun to qualify, this will NOT be tolerated this time round!
    9) MNPCTech rocks. Nuff said. Thanks Bill!

So do I get to have the case built by Mr. Owen if/when I win this design contest?

    :)

No sorry, not quite like that, the MNPCTech design contests have been more focussed on fun rather than an actual makeable case.

3ds Max is fine Dark~3nergy, glad to have you on board, Do you have the ability to import SU files?

Case is a closely gaurded secret!

LOL... I figured that much confusis... I'm sure you figured it out, but I was being facetious... :D

I will still give this a try simply because I enjoy messing with Sketchup.

    I'm in.

I'm in too, still can't decide about the app. Probably SU since it's one month "only" and no render. Maya would be overkill and would consume too much time

Can't wait for it to start.

Just a question : The case will be imposed, but .... will a "style" (steam punk, scifi, old school, etc.) be imposed as well ?

Depending on the outcome of my work this week, if its one case it will be free for all, if its another it will be limited to a certain genre..but with a twist

Uni finishes for me at the end of the month, so I might be able to enter. It will only give me 16 days, but I can see what I can do in that time.

I'll be using AutoCAD. Exporting from sketchup to .dwg works to some degree, but it's never the prettiest or most workable. But I'll sort that out when I come to it.

Going crazy in SU is allways alot of fun, especially when you have nothing to do during the summer.
