@Pranga, I'm sorry you don't care for the grommets, but we liked the look of red/black combination, and already committed to it, but Thank you for sharing your feedback @Sebar, Thank you for commenting, btw I liked your Pirate page @siliconefanatic, Glad you like it! We should be installing it onto the front this weekend, we're waiting for the vandal switches to arrive first.. The front 480 bezel with Typhoon fan.. I may go over it again with the airbrush
@Pranja - You have to look at it from the builder's perspective. Would you want to cut and re-thread 24 little screws so they don't hit the fan? (-screws you don't have any spares of.) Little things like that make the grommets look much better to the builder.
I do get where pranja is coming from, they don't look quite right. If you gave them a bit of the airbrush treatment or used nuts or washers instead maybe?
I was planning to go over fasteners and other areas of the exterior again with airbrush, shadowing details once everything is assembled.. The Dark Red coloring, does look a little Purplish / Maroon in certain light is intentional.. We really like how it contrasted with Grey It sounds like the vandal switches won't be arriving on time for us to install the bezel this weekend, so we'll have to wait till next week for that. This weekend we'll be working connecting all of the fans and PSU cable management Here is some screen shots from footage Andrew and I recorded while working on Part4 of "Rebel A" video.. this was few days before we painted the bezel. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/cosmos_2_ii_coolermaster_rebel_alliance_ek_bitspower_koolance_fitting_block_andrew4.jpg[img] [img]http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/cosmos_2_ii_coolermaster_rebel_alliance_ek_bitspower_koolance_fitting_block_andrew7.jpg
I was quietly following this project, but now i just gotta comment. This is really looking great, I love everything of the build so far! As for the grommets and the red bolts, I think that the grommets give a nice extra detail. I think without the grommets the bolts don't pop out as good as they're doing now. Keep it up guys!
I just spent best part of this morning reading though this log, and all I can say is nothing, This build is just breath takingly beautiful
@XcOM, Thank you for taking the time to read and comment, we're almost to finish line @dreps, Thank you for the Post! @Falqoon, We appreciate you watching and commenting. We're almost there, just need to order few more items and finish the panel grills We returned to the workshop yesterday, Andrew's schedule has been super busy, so it's been a challenge to make headway. The bulgin switches were shipped late, and won't arrive on time to mount the bezel permanently. Andrew made more headway on CPU loop while I cable tied PSU cables into crevices. We were so focused, didn't grab a lot of photos, but I will scan for screen shots later while editing video. Andrew took this pic of the bezel temporarily mounted, without the fans.... until the switches arrive this week.
Nice burn marking in the upper left corner... Seems like it might be a little lonely, no? Other than that, The grille fits in quite nicely. Oh and I never said this before but very nice grey, seems to replace the typical star wars beige quite well now that I think of it.
I'd put my grammar nazi hat on but that sentence looks like it was written by a 5th grader. @crappy, Now that you say that it does seem like it was translated.
he's german and their grammar is structured completely different to ours. his point is completely mute though. the mod looks manufactured, so surely that just means it looks like it's been really well made. i'd be extremely happy if mine ended looking like it was built that way.
Ello chaps! I will attempt to be more active here on the forums now. If there's one thing I've learned over the past 6 months it's that being active on 10+ forums is a lot easier when you're an intern than when you're a project manager for a fortune 17 corporation. I sure do miss the days of being in the shop every day Things are coming along nicely, and Bill has been very generous in helping out keeping updates going on forums, moving things along with paint and assembly, etc. We hit many roadblocks as you guys well know, but Bill has been on top of making sure things keep moving no matter what we have to do. As far as the "purplish red" is concerned, as Bill mentioned we like how the shade looks with the feel of the build. If I was going for a "brand new high tech spacecraft" look, I would go with a deep, new looking red. This red just looks more worn, which is the feel I was going for. Where we stand now, this weekend we'll be installing the power/reset switches (I opted for a red ring and red dot combination for some starwars flavor), mixing a big batch of Mayhems coolant, filling the first loop (CPU/Mobo/Ram), working on some final touches inside the case (I'm thinking a raised, illuminated logo potentially), install the front rad fans and grill, and figure out what GPU's are going in it. Thanks for being patient and watching/commenting! I must also say... I get tired of other forums and their politics, generally uneducated population, and bad moderators so I'm being selective about my activity now
That comment reminds me of response I gave in recent interview "What is the toughest situation you've been in with a project? "Final assembly on a PC we've created for an event, hours before it must ship, can be stressful. Everything we've fabricated, must function flawlessly, as if "Manufactured". I never want to hear "This part was broken" from somebody who attended the event. The Reps working the booth, are not going to bother fixing it for you." The execution of our work reflects upon my name. When a build is shipped overseas to a vendor booth at CeBit or Computex. I can expect the media and show attendees that can include people from here to examine our work up close. Fabricated parts better function as if the were "Manufactured" Looking forward to seeing and working with Andrew this Sunday
