Ive been reading the forums online for a long time on my computer and have recently started to read if on my phone which i have found quite hard seeing as it takes alot of zooming and what not.

I was just wondering if you had any plans to use a mobile site for compatability with the iphone and/or other phones and PDAs?

I've seen a few other sites use these kind of forum skins and im sure that other bit-tech readers would like to see this aswell.

Sorry if this is a re-post i did a search but nothing came up!

I mostly wish that I could read the main site on my phone in an easier way. I don't often surf the forums on my phone, but if I could, I guess I would.

Absolutely no point what-so-ever in any website going to this effort when phone browsers are getting better and better all the time. Of course, an official comment may disagree ;)

Normal forum works perfectly well for me on my HTC Touch Diamond (Opera Mobile) and iPod Touch so I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. We shall see what Jamie says...

Phone browsers may be getting better but the size of the screens arent. Its the fact that the "buttons" are tiny when used on a mobile and proper browsing of the forum is made hard beacuse of that.

I dont think it is actually a big task, more of just a skin but i could be wrong!
Although a mobile version of the actual site would involve quite alot more work.

Alastor, i know that it works in as much it loads and you can zoom to read certian sections of text although it is not ideal and it is quite alot harder then it really needs to be.

    Google search

Try some of the search results there on your ipod and tell me if you dont find the other sites alot easier to use.

Yes, we know Smartphones can handle the sites fine, but what about the massive amount of people who don't have a smartphone, or don't have a stable 3G connection? I've got a Motorola Dext, and while the site itself is lovely on my phone, it's so slow to load. (my house must be the only 3G black-spot in Sunderland, I swear!)

I believe Jamie has already said on a number of occasions that they have no plans to implement a mobile version of either the main site or the forums.

As enjoyable as sitting on the throne and flicking through bit on my phone might be, I think the number of users that would use a mobile bit site would be pretty low - once everyone has got over the new toy, it'll be forgotten I reckon, and thus not worth it, as you would only get a few people consistently using it

And if you do need bit while on the throne, get a wireless broadband card, and a netbook...

I go on the forums on my iPod Touch all the time, a mobile site would be much better and much more efficient to use.
