My contract with tmobile ends next month. It was a 2 year deal with an s2 that was 25 a month for 500 mins texts and mb
I've carefully reviewed my options and despite wanting the s4 or htc one, I've decided to go sim only and keep my s2 until I see what Google plan for the next nexus.

My tmobile signal has got progressively worse in the 2 places I use it most, home and work, since the ee merger. I find this odd but looking back the signal was great until a few months ago so I suspect they may have removed a mast or tweaked something.
Mrs Bear is on 3 and gets avrrage/good signal but isn't a heavy user. I'm looking at the one plan sim only for 15 a month because it includes tethering and unlimited data, which could be very handy. I've been told, by tmobile, that 3 use traffic shaping and my bandwidth could be rubbish. Any one have first hand experience of the three's data? Or the one plan?

Oh and top cash back have 65 quid on offer at the minute making the effective cost under 10 quid a month

Anyone got any other ideas? Giffgaff don't seem to allow tethering and ovivo looks a bit strange to me.

Of course Tmobile are going to say other networks are ****. I download a minimum of 30gb a month with 3 on the one plan and have never had any traffic shaping or letters telling me about a FUP.

Check their T&Cs and go from there, I am very happy with 3 though. Their speeds are very good, it slows at peak time to round 4 meg but otherwise is 10 or above, obviously different areas will have different speeds. Your S2 won't get on their ultrafast network (DC-HSDPA) but with a newer phone you'll be hitting 25 meg at times.

Do your own research, don't listen to the network call centres.

Worst case if 3 are rubbish in your area, stick to the 1 month sim only plan to start with and see how it goes.

Do this - several colleagues switched to 3, and it's quite hit and miss. The ones who get good signal love it, but about half of them get no signal at home!

Thanks guys, my wife is on 3 so I know my coverage will be ok at home, as in I get signal of 2 bars or higher in most rooms. It was more the data side I was interested in as my tablet isn't 3gbdata enabled and I may have to be doing more whilst out and about with work so tethering would be very handy. As long as they didn't do anything sneaky like FUP or traffic shape.
I was with 3 4 years ago but the coverage went really bad as they changed roaming partners. So I left, to be fair to 3 they let me leave my contract 6 months early as the signal loss was their problem.
All in all I'm not happy with EE anymore, and you can vouch for three's data policy im happy. Hell if you use 30gb and dont get a rap on the knuckles I should be fine

Another Three convert here - their "One Plan" is totally unlimited. No Fair usage policy, no download caps, and tethering is included.

    +1 for them.

Here's an update. Tmobile called offering the htc one or s4 for 32 pound a month. 1000 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited data (apparently including tethering). Htc one is free, s4 is 30 quid upfront.
Downsides are only 3g not 4g whilst 3 will upgrade to 4g for free eventually.
    Hmm decisions decisions.

I'm on 3 and while not even on the same landmass I have to say I'm not a fan for signal based reasons. Very very spotty coverage, and I live about 5 miles outside Belfast. Anywhere slightly more remote and it just disappears altogether.

You could always go with the new handset, keep your S2 and flog the new one.

Went and saw carphone warehouse who matched the t mobile offer but the upgrade cost was 50 quid, so they chucked in a premium case (apparently worth 45 quid) for free. Thr case is a bit meh. I like the idea but the application is a bit lacking. I would like the case to feel shut when the front flap is "closed" instead it is sort or ajar. Ive not had much time to play with it yet as life got in the way but it does seem very good, the screen is very nice. The s2 was good, my wife's note 2 is lovely, the s4 is just lovely. Im looking forward to experimenting with the various features. Camera seems quite good though.
