right, ive discoverd its my mobo thats FUBAR, so im gonna have to send it back to ebuyer, from what ive heard, this is no easy task. in my travels ive discovered that a cheap motherboard is not the way forward (i got an ecs k7s5a) so id like to get a A7NX8, 2 questoins; is there any chance of ebuyer allowing my to have store credit instead of a replacement? and is it worth spending the extra on the delux version of the A7NX8 as it seems the only extra it has is serial ATA, which i know nothing about, but as i do alot of music recording so ill probly be needing SCSI, is serial ATA better?

The Deluxe version also has firewire and most importantly it has the Nvidia Soundstorm sound chip. The non deluxe version has just crappy AC97. SATA is simply a new standard and as such you wont see any real improvement in performance until drives get much quicker. You can of course just use adaptors to allow you to put the normal ATA drives onto the SATA but it's just for show, no extra performance :)

now i feel stupid, turns out the mobo is ok, and the cpu is the dead bit :wallbash: still gonna buy a new mobo, but it can now wait. the CPU is a duron 1.2 and i bought it OEM from ebuyer. now heres the thing, i never actually tried to overclock it, what killed it was a short from 12v to earth when installin fan switches.:wallbash: :wallbash: i thought components are supposed to be protected against things like this, but i do have a cheap PSU. what are my chances of getting a replacement, as i dont want to send it back to ebuyer and have them not replace it as i'd have to pay postage. (OEM has no manufacturers warrenty i seem to remeber)
