Truth is i didn't like the looks of this. The connectors, on/off switch, and indicator light are are on the same side; the back. Then after prolonged use it becomes warm to the touch. Yet having back up of gigs of all types of data is hugely convenient so: This cheap toy solves my problems. The hd fits fine. I placed it too far forward at first and the engine block was stopping it from closing. The on/off switch im moving into the front grill. Locked the drive down. Starting the paint process. And doing some "engine" modding. Once the paint is finished I'll be adding two small fans and some leds. the paint on this one went smooth, a few more days and it will be finished. Im going with a 250 gb drive, because that's the biggest ide drive i have. Next time im going sata. The plastic is orange, so i stayed with that. But got rid of the pin stirps, and added chrome flake. Here's the bottom intake fan. Between coats i think im going to wire the leds and fit and cut the "moon roof" Just about finished with this one......
Yeah, the work you put into it is great, but the original toy design was freakish. A rear engine Lambo with a funny car style blob of chrome in the front? And a big-*ss batmobile spoiler! I'm shocked the designer didn't add Buick vents.
What can you expect from someone that designs a car with half of the tires sticking out from the body? On a truck it's cool, bot on a racing car? no way! (It will mess up the aerodynamics...) The mod itself is OK. You just didn't have a very good base to work with.
thanks for the comments guys.... most toy cars are either tooo small or way too big for a 3.5 hd. a 2.5 hd would have gave me many more options. but when i found this $5 car it became a hd. i dont really care that its a lambo/funny car, and since aerodynamics don't really apply to usb transfer rates, its perfect for my purposes . i only wish i would have went sata. i have a terabyte hd that would have been perfect.. since i will need more than the 250gb thats in its now, i will either get a 1tb ide drive or find a sata controller that matches my cuts. its about time to buff it out and touch it up. there's a led in the moon roof that's not firing. i just aint had the time. when i do i was thinking of adding just a lil orange to the engine. more pics... ill post more pics after i buff it and wax it thanks for looking......
