Hi guys, Is there an easy way to mod a blue laser pen like the one in this ebay auction, that runs off AAA batteries to be powered by a 4 Pin PSU lead? I can solder!
All you need to know is what voltage the pen needs to run. The pen you linked to takes two 1.5v batteries in series which means it runs on 3v, so really all you need is the orange wire from a SATA connector (3.3v) and black (ground). Connect the ground to the - terminal and the orange to the + terminal and you're good to go. It may be quite tricky to do this though... Furthermore, I would advise that you get an el cheapo PSU for this sort of thing (assuming you don't have one already)... shiz like this is what fried my first X58 motherboard Ever since then I've always hooked up my DIY electronics to a spare cheap PSU before connecting it to my system.
Ah, I knew I could rely on Bit tech for answers to ridiculous questions like this. I have a spare 430W Corsair PSU that I use for cycling my pump. I can use that! Thank you very much Lenny, I'll give it a go!
