Graphics Modding R9700 Non-Pro to FireGL X1

SO recently my friend was looking around the net, hes buying himself a shiny new professional graphics card for his animation rendering kit, This thing i gonna be gooood when its finished. Anyway, on to my point, he was looking around and found this linkOverclockers.ru and asked me some stuff about it ( I used babelfsih to translate from russion but dont know how to display translated link sorry ). I told him id heard of things like it before, and know of people who have done so to their old geforce cards making them into the quadro cards, and the boosts in performance for the things he wants are awsome. So im asking here, if anyone knows if this method is a sure fire way or doing it, or are we just clutching at straws, im all up for giving it a go on my r9700np as im getting a new card in the next month or so. So if u guys go any handy links or info on this topic itd be greatly appreciated

afaik the radeon -> fireGL and the geforce -> quadro mods dont do anything other than change the name of the card

ie, its still the same card, just with the device ID changed
which makes bugger all difference to performance

i may be wrong though

 

Hmm, well as far i knew thats what i thought, however, looking at graphs on that site, it would appear that doing the mod somehow enables almost 3x the score in Max benchmarks, thats quite a nice jump.

Anyway, was the only reason i was asking really.. Anyway, cheers for your input, if anyone else knows anything chuck it in

i know the origional geforce 1 could be modded into a quadro with all the performance improvements intact, didnt make any difference in games but 3ds max perfomance shot up
