OK so I really want to buy a cheapish steering wheel to play Daytona and Daytona Deluxe but I am worried they will not work with Windows XP and or Direct X 3 and 5.

Can any one chime in with some advice?

Buy a cheapish old controller? Most Gameport (and even old USB) devices go for peanuts on fleabay.

I bought a Sidewinder gameport controller but I would love a wheel and pedals for Daytona ! I used to have one years ago.

Why not buy a Sidewinder force feedback wheel off ebay? It works with XP and Direct X 5 games but I have no idea about Direct X 3.
I have two, a now broken gameport one and a working usb version that I use for old games on my Windows 98 SE PC.
