This level of immaturity I'm seeing all over the web against Infinity Ward's MW2 has got to stop and is just plain embarrassing for the whole PC gaming crowd. Infinity Ward not supporting dedicated servers is not a real world crisis; Activision is a business who are offering us a new product... take it or leave it.

Frankly, I think it's irrelevant how many people take 5 minutes of their day to sign one of many of these petitions against this. As long as the PC version of the game makes a healthy profit they'll stick to their vision.

Another thing is that I feel that we could all be a bit more open minded about the new central matchmaking system. Of course I was shocked and resented this decision at first myself. But, I think we should wait and see how this new IW.Net system turns out and it could work out to be better for us all in the long run. Remember they never said that they've ruled out mods and IW.Net could constantly be updated to include new features such as user-mods (kind of like Youtube). And if you think about it realistically, it shouldn't affect clans at all (how do you suppose console clans deal without dedicated servers). So I know it's a big change, but we should all just wait (cancel your pre-orders if you like) until release and then make up your mind about it.

Lastly, people who were looking forward to Modern Warfare 2 until hearing this disappointing news should stop complaining about what they don't want (e.g. "OMG PC games are getting consolified, I hate consoles!") and if they ask for what they specifically do want then I believe Activision/IW will listen. Do you want the PC gaming market to keep getting bigger? I know I do, and if that means reducing piracy and bringing in new gamers by using Steam and a radically different user-friendly online system (this should also mean not having to hear f***ing illegitimate users playing their pirated copies on cracked servers) - great!

Don't even get me started on how bull---t this is. I can deal with a delay in order for all the little teens to get their console versions first. I can deal with the $60.00USD price tag. But not supporting dedicated servers is downright deplorable.

Can I get a job posting for large corporations who see PC Games as "a product we are offering"?

Well as least we have heard from the company directly!

You've clearly missed the point I was trying to put across. Again, Activision are just a business and the number one thing they care about is profit. Course they care about the games too otherwise they wouldn't have chosen that industry over others, but money is the biggest concern over everything else.

And I was playing devil's advocate... *sigh* Maybe I need to start making it more obvious from now on. Besides, as I was saying IT IS just a luxury product and not some political issue. If you want it you take? You don't? Then don't buy. Simple economics really - it's not a democracy. Course everyone has the right to petition and put pressure on these companies, but again I'll point back to my original post.

Yes it is a luxury product. And those products rely on the goodwill of customers. If we stop considering them as something to covet and enjoy then they loose their business.

I also feel that you missed out a big point in your original post. IW.Net is described to be exactly like the console style match-making service, which we already know about and understand. Unless they completely misrepresented the product they are delivering then people have a good reason not to like the changes. I have a 360 as well as a PC and I don't use it to play online games precisely because I don't like the match-making system (in addition to the controller), so when that system comes to the PC I have a right to be suspicious.

I'll probably still buy the game in the end because I enjoy the single player experience of those. But that content alone isn't worth the current asking price. It needed the MP for me to want it now so I'll hold off in the mean time.
