Link Thought I would make a seperate thread for this specifically so people can see my impressions of it. It arrived this morning and I was half expecting it to be pretty tacky....I was quite pleasantly surprised. The sound quality is "good"....not amazing, not rubbish...slightly above average and a good 7/10 with no major noticible problems with it. The build quality is really good I must say - It fits around your neck really well, the ear-piece goes in and you completely forget its even there. The controls let you control the volume instantly and instant mute too if need be. I think its better than the standard xbox headset - I found sometimes as I went to slide that to mute - It would cause the jack to move causing noise, sometimes even causing the headset to stop working until i pulled it out and put it back in. With this Mic however, its just a jack that pops in and the controls are on that little dongle on the wire. Its sleek and most of all, pretty dam cool looking Negatives? hmm...I would say its just simply a mic on your throat instead, not the real tactical "vibration sensor" people would expect....but for about £18 that is asking for quite a bit.. Also the jack that goes into the pad rotates a bit left and right, it can maybe touch your fingers while gaming frantically....I think thats more me just nit-picking however though. Overall: If you need to replace your official headset - This is a very good alternative, sexy, works well and much better practically. Sound quality 7/10 - solid, no noticible problems. At a high volume however you will get background noise but lowering it and it should be fine. The mic's quality can seem to make your voice a little deeper but its not any less clearer, it works decent) Build quality 8/10 - I was expecting it to be pretty tacky - im glad its not. It feels like its worth the £18. Slides onto your neck well and hugs it well, not loose at all or too tight (maybe that could be just my neck though? my chubby friends - watch out!) and the ear-piece as well as the dongle controls all work well. Good build and very "cool" Overall: Worth it and better than the official headset...I think so anyways (so far)
I dunno, it just doesn't look comftorble to me to wear for a while at the time, and I think it would annoy me..
One of my friend's has one. It's like playing with someone with a robot filter on. It sounds fuzzy and metallic.
Thank you. I've been trying to find out the mic quality for a while. I've read a few reviews of the Madcatz throat mic but not one has bothered mentioned what you sound like to other people. Everything might sound great for the user, but if they sound like a tit to other people, what's the point? It should be no surprise that 'real' £200+ throat mics sound crystal clear in pretty much any situation.
I have been playing around with it and allot of negative reviews have sprung up about the mic. I have found if you wear it on your throat (in the middle) the mic's quality is really distorted but lowering it to near your collarbone at the bottom the quality is fine - on par with the headset. the quality is dependant on where you place the mic on your throat exactly and I find the lower away it is from the mouth the better as I think its "too sensitive" and distorts the voice that way. hope this helps.
There's a review here. It is what it is, and what it isn't is a throat mic. It's just like a mobile mic and you can expect it to react the same way a mobile mic does when you put it on the table on speakerphone; it gets crackly, metallic and indistinct if you use it far outside it's comfort zone. Still, I like...
Sounds like most cheapo throat mic's then. I've used several cheap ones for Airsoft and EVERY ONE of them has been terrible to the point that I settled for a Bowman. Comfortable and sounds right to other users
