I sound like a n00b asking this but does it matter in which order you put the black wires in?

OK cause I thought there was that mod where you switch them around and it only gives you 7 volts, not good for my HDD.

Hi, thought I'd quit lurking round the forum and register...

As previously mentioned, the two black wires are both ground, (0V) so it doesn't matter if you switch them round in the molex connector.

There is a way of getting 7V out of a molex connector to operate fans etc at a lower speed, for example. If you connect a fan between the Red (5V) and Yellow (12V) wires in the molex connector, the total voltage will be 12 - 5 = 7Volts. This will make the fan spin slower. (making it quieter)

However, NEVER try this on a Hard drive or CD rom drive to make it quieter; at best it will not work, at worst, it will trash the drive.

    Hope this helps,

    The Bodger.
