Hey all, i was wondering do they make momentary switchs with a time delay.
What i mean by that is do they make a switch that when pushed will close the circut, but it will stay closed for a couple of seconds before it opens again.
I have tried searching google using every combination of words, i just want to check here before giving up.

    Thanks
    isho.

That would be an entire circuit. I think there have been posts about such a device.

You will most likely have to use a chip such as a 555 IC timer wired in single-shot mode to take the pulse you send from the momentary switch and extend its duration.

A very good resource is this website

The google word is 'monostable' and most links will cover the 555. This one was the first good one listed and is the simplest circuit. A minor snag is that if you keep the button pressed the timer stays on.

This one adds an extra couple of bits to give a fixed on time even if you sit on the button and shows how to add a transistor switch to boost the current rating. On Time = 1.1 x R1 x C1 (1.1 secs with 1M & 1uF)
