Not much to be honest. I'd be happy with a reasonable gaming system with a seperate fileserver with loads of RAID goodness. Nice big screen and decent audio.

A HD projector is top of my list.

Then the most up-to-date parts based on the current hot streaks.

Can't really say more than that.

Dual Everything, Nice Big 30" Widescreen LCD, All The Trimmings hardware wise, best peripherals and a 'proper' 7.1 Theater setup (AV reciever, big floorstanders, quality sub)

Apart from that i'd probably buy a nice glass desk for it :)

a MAH-OOOOOOOO-sive storage PC, a system for gaming (read 'top o-line') and a nice and quiet HTPC. Of course all with silly large HD screens and audio. That 3 monitor desktop idea appeals to me :p

A holiday around the world and a £500 machine. Then I'd clock the crap out of it.

Part of the whole experience is buying cheaper bits that are gonna clock like crazy.

well you could spend upwards of £50k on just a decent projector, then £400-500k on a decent surround system to go with.
Then start on the pc :D

Runco and Faroujda (sp?) make some top spec projectors that run in to 6 figures, though I'd probably still pick the Sony Qualia Projector, as its phenomenal for the price (~$25k)

Wouldn't change much on my system given a limitless budget, probably just replace the drives in my array with 8x 150GB raptors for a giggle. Would really splash out on a gen3 LTO drive and a few carts though (~3k or around there)

Would be tempted to replace my main screen with a 24" and throw in SLI 7900s to actually play games in its native res, but I hardly play games anyway.

Wouldnt change much on the hi-fi either tbh, probably just pick up a consonance droplet CD player. Would go a little bit silly on a home cinema setup though, probably ~£70k /drool

I would go for that new intel motherboard. Looks good. Smack it full off the nicest RAM out there. Load it up with a RAID 5 15,000 rpm hard drive array. x1900xt Crossfire. Nicest conroe when it comes out. Plenty of heat pipes, just, everywhere. Then you just grab the nicest monitor you can find.

Well its not exactly the "best" but it will be top of the line in most parts, definately enough to play all the games.

Given a limitless budget you'd get a tagan PSU?

If you can only make it to 4 grand, you need a bigger imagination :p

    Tyan NF-Pro dual 940 board
    2x opteron 280
    4x 1GB ecc reg'd
    2x 7900GTX
    Areca 1280
    12x 150GB raptor
    hotswap bays for the above
    couple 24" screens
    emu 1820
    LTO2/3 backup
    physx
1/2" water on gfx and cpus
10mm water on the NB, physx and areca
a case that will fit it all

getting into 5 digits there :thumb:

Only five digits? That doesn't show much imagination. :naughty: Here's a short list compiled in a short amount of time.

Thunder K8QE w/M4881 Processor Expansion board
    8x Opteron 885
    2x Nvidia 7900GTX 512MB in SLi
128 GB of 4GB ECC Registered PC3200 RAM, CAS2 (it exists, I believe)
    Areca 1260
    16x 150GB raptor
    Hotswap bays for the above
    Four 30" LCD's
    LTO2/3 backup (possibly better)
    Emu 1820
ASuS physx card (shares PCI with Emu via splitter)

    Custom phase on all CPUs
    Chiller-powered water cooled GPUs
10mm water on the NBs, physx, VRMs, and areca
A case that will fit it all

And that's just the central machine. We aren't talking about the offsite NAS, nor the clone of this computer running the 360degree simulator in your office. :naughty:
