My friend has an AMD HD 7770 and the display cuts out to the monitor occasionally. It only happens when he plays as France in Napoleon: Total War. There's no overheating or anything and it never happens in any other game. Is this as puzzling as it seems or am I missing something?
Anti-French GPU? Worse things have happened... Seriously though - does it not happen with any other games / situations?
Sounds like a game bug or driver issue. The fact that it only happens with that one game is reassuring.
It does seem like it's anti French. But yeah its this one situation and in all others its fine. And he is the sort of guy who keeps stuff up to date so I assume he's on the latest drivers.
"Display cuts out to the monitor" sounds kind of vague. What actually happens, does the screen stop getting an input signal? What steps are required to fix it?
does anything happen on the screen, like, no input going to sleep messages. does the monitor just into standby?
+1 on that. Is the computer still working when the screen goes off? Can you still hear the game running in the background or does the entire PC crash? Maybe he needs to buy Wargame:AirLand Battle and play as the french to test out the anti-french theory,
So we've got a plot twist. Turns out its a Francophile graphics card, it cuts input with every other faction he plays as except France. EDIT:
Does his rig/CPU have a IGP ? Reset the CCC setting to default, rule out messed up settings. Disable any NTW mods. Try going to C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon, and delete the following folders: army_setups battle_preferences fx_cache ui_cache Scripts verify the game cache, then try it.
I'm on Nvidia, never seen the Catalyst drivers. Where would this setting be located so I can tell him where to look?
