    Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me out with a monitor recommendation,

Currently using a 23" AOC screen (1920x1080) as my main monitor, and an old Dell (1280x1084) as a second screen.
Trouble is, the main screen is too small, and the second screen whilst useful for work, offers nothing for gaming.

If possible I'd like to run a triple monitor setup (prompted into motion by Elite Dangerous) but don't want to upgrade my GPU (HD 6850)

Any suggestions or even guidance on resolutions for what my GPU/Rig can handle? Full specs of my rig are in sig below.

    Thanks in advance folks! :thumb:

Have you thought about a 21:9 superwidescreen monitor? Shouldn't be too graphically intensive but will be a bit more immersive than your current setup.

It's an option if I can't run multiple monitors but I like the idea of the wraparound effect you get with multi monitor.

Could just bolster the current, do you think 1080p x 3 is the most I can expect from the GPU?

I'll second that. That's what I would do in your situation. Does your AOC monitor have display port though? One output from the GPU will need to use DP so if not adaptor needed.. or is it HDMI on that card?

I'm not convinced performance at 5760x1080 will be that great with ED though.. in fact, I think it will suck unless you use low settings I reckon.

Your GPU is going to poo its pants. No way is a slow 6850 going to handle triple head at anything approaching quality. I'd be looking at a pair of 970s minimum before you go monitor hunting.

I was afraid of that. Thanks for the advice, any single card GPU that would handle it nicely rather than twin cards?

At low details with a few at medium, so basically pointless, a single 970 would probably cope. A 980 might get you to within shouting distance of medium and possibly the odd high setting.

Triple head is still the realm of dual cards to all intents and purposes, be that two physical cards or dual GPUs on a single board.

Elite Dangerous is not that demanding. I'm running it at 2560x1600 with every setting maxxed out with a single 970 and it NEVER drops below 60fps. I reckon 3x 1080 monitors is doable with a single 970 if some settings are reduced.

His current GPU would be terrible though. It may be playable with everything on minimum.. but that in itself is terrible, so why bother?

Go for a curved 21:9. You get most of the same immersion, with something that is easier for gpu to drive and no annoying bezel breaks.

Well, the curved jobs are too steep for me and although I know the GPU could do with an upgrade a 21:9 2560x1080 seems a good compromise. Just ordered a 34"LG number so will nicely replace the current 2 screens and allow me to have a slightly tidier desk!

Thanks for everyones advice. rep incoming.
