I recently updated my system to C2D and an Asus P5K. I have always set my monitor to shut off after 20 minutes of idle time. This never happened with my AMD rigs, the monitor always shut down after 20 minutes idle time. Before this I had an Opteron and M2N-SLI Deluxe and this option worked fine. Before the Opty/M2N, I had a P5WDH and P4 640 and the same thing would happen, monitor would not shut down. My folks have an older P4 and 865P system and the same thing with theirs.
So what gives with Intel rigs and this option and what is the solution? All suggestions are very welcome and much appreciated.

    What Operating are you using?
Do you have the latest driver? Try to uninstall your display and video card driver, and re-install them.
    Is your windows FULLY updated?
Do you have the latest motherboard drivers, and BIOS?

What connector you use to plug your monitor, DVI, Display port, or the old analogue one?
What is your monitor model? Which PCI-E 16x plug you attached your video card? Did you try a different one?

WinXP fully updated. This is a fresh install, flashed the board with latest BIOS. Video card drivers are latest from nVidia. There are no drivers available for my monitor (and shouldn't be needed since it worked fine with the AMD rig). Latest mobo drivers from Intel. Same DVI connector I used before (inner most).

Instant fix. Make a robot, and every 20 minutes you dont kick him, make him unplug the monitor.
Is your monitor plug and play?
    check the monitor website.
It works fine with my monitor, except it might be 30 minutes of down time...
