Yeah, so guns and lethal chemicals are what causes suicide, because it's not as if normal people have knives and bridges close by is it?

The idea that all suicides are a "are tragic situations where help could have been provided" is such a rupugnent and emotive viewpoint. When are these mental children going to wake up and realise that some people just aren't enjoying the ride, and want to step of?

I fully support the idea that people should be in a sound state of mind before killing themselves, but the idea that anyone who killed themselves was automatically insane or crazy or depressed or whatever is offensive.

I just find it interesting, i never realised suicide was so "popular". Especially when you put it into context with deaths from both war and murders.

Usually people who kill themselves are deeply depressed or otherwise impaired in some way.
In effect, they are not normal, and would probabily be classed as mentally ill.

The only exception I can thing of it people who kill themselves out of fear, such as Hitler.

Depends on your definition of normality. Since we are all to die at some point in our lives surely the method of expiration can be chosen by said individual and it's in fact, society that makes it a negative act?

    /devils advocate

However, as beings we are generally pre-programmed to procreate, so are people who dont procreate the same as those who commit suicide; in respect to society?

Well, usually maybe ramble, but what about say the 5 or 10% who are "normal" and are not impaired? Should they instantly be pronoucned crazy because they want to stop living? Our fear of death has worked us up into this irrational frenzy where all people who want to stop living must have been wrong somehow. It seems most humans cannot even contemplate that a sane and mentally healthy human might just want to stop.

Nobody that's happy and isn't depressed is going to do that.
People do it because they're unhappy and/or depressed.

All you need to commit suicide is just you, nothing else.

Talking about help, the person is the one that has the final decision, you may be taking pills, beign helped by your friends and family, but it's just it, help.

I think that Uruguay is in the top 10 of this list.
