what gets me is they wait 10yrs before filing, they are basically waiting for others to make it successfull then filing a complaint
Took the words right out of my mouth. Translation: "We had a look into the technology 'first' but didn't do anything with it. Big companies then found it by themselves (you know, because they spend a LOT of money in research) and used it. Rather than complaining at the time, we sat back and waited in our evil cave, doing the finger pyramid of doom, finally bringing a lawsuit that will make us (puts pinky to mouth) one billion dollars."
The length of time between patent registration and the objection to similar tech arriving or the registration of a patent, then not developing the technology for a decade?
First things first I'm tired of everyone claiming trolling is simply doing something on the internet. Unless it adhears to the above, don't pissing use it. Yes I am aware of the irony before someone posts trollface.jpg Secondly. Patent arguments are a US law wonderboat aren't they? Seems like Google, Apple, Microsoft and Zen have specific legal sections entirely dedicated to suing each and every company for each and every patent violation. It's insane.
Personally, I think that the only way round this is to require that a company actually use or produce the technology described in a patent within a set amount of time once the patent has been granted. Thereafter, they have no right to pursue other companies for patent infringement if they don't use it themselves. Also, tighten up on the language used so that patents can't be filed with deliberately vague descriptions that can be later used as a trap for patent litigation. And, Brawl, beware that words often have more than one meaning. I believe the use of the word troll in this sense has nothing to do with Internet trolling, but more because patent trolls sit underneath bridges and jump out at people crossing the bridge, threatening to eat them. Metaphorically, of course (and it's "adhere", btw )
Um, language is how we use it. If everyone uses troll for simply doing something on the internet then that is a definition of troll.
Oh I'm aware... I'm just tired of anything remotely confrontational being classed as trolling. massive angry faces will be posted everytime I see it on all forums I use from now on >.< also damn your Grammar Nazism to the Basillica of Torment squire! It was before coffee therefor I have an excuse. *coughs* EC... I am disappoint.
