    Hi,

I've got a Gelid Tranquilo in an overclocked setup (i5-760) and its not as quiet as I'd like when the fan is running at top speed.
Normally its fine, but at the top end i can hear it easily. The case is a PC-9F.

I'm guessing that I need either a better cooler or a better fan. Is the supplied fan optimum, or can i do better?

Would a Frio be quieter, or are there better coolers?

    Many thanks

The frio is an excellent cooler but i would just change the fan on gelid to either an akasa apache or gentle typhoon

The Be Quiet Dark Rock Advanced is CPC's choice of cooler now. :) Their review placed it as significantly quieter than the Tranquillo.

for what it's worth, the frio has been shown to cool better, but louder...

i second or third the different fan idea...

I replaced the fan with an akasa apache and it seems to have done the trick :)
Cpu temperature is a bit lower too which is a plus.
I wonder how many coolers out there can be improved by changing their standard fans.

Now of course other 'noises' have now become 'noticeable', sigh.
