    I'm really sorry about all the spam I just have a ton of questions I'm trying to learn more about things = ) I need a Rheostat for a delta fan.
    Specifications: 80x80x38mm, -->80.16<-- CFM @ 5700 RPM, 52.5 dBA, 10.80w .90 Amp, 12v DC, 3+4 pin Molex connectors.

    That fan has a resistance of 13.33R (V/I) so you need a rheostat about the same to turn the fan volts down to about 6v.

    A 10R will give you 6.85V minimum, a 15R 5.6V minimum.

    Taking the 10R, power needed is Rheo Resistance * Max Fan Current^2, ie 10*0.9*0.9=8.1W, coming down to 5.2W going to the limit of the allowance Vishay quote for their rheostats.

    God knows where you'll get one from, an electronic solution is best for powerful fans.

    u might be able to get 1 but i dont know where also it would probably be big and expensive a better solution is to use one of the solutions on cpemmas site here

    sorry to guys at bit-tech for plugging cpemmas site so much i just like his solutions thats all :D

    Well, Vishay say the 15R 12.5W one (66101.pdf) will carry 0.91 amps, your fan's 0.90 amps top speed, so that's very safe, the 10R even safer.

    The 25W and 50W are overkill.

    I think RS (Spares not Shack) do the Vishays if you're in the UK. Cost you though. :eek:

    good good that will pay for the silver spray paint (for fans) and leave a little bit left over to go towards a dremmel
