    Hello noob here!

Is there much difference in compatability with games under win xp home / pro and corp?
It isn't the old NT scenario is it?

All my games run fine under XP. It has Direct X 8.1a built in and also you can get dets for XP so no probs there.

NT was $h!te IMHO and 2k also has *some* performace probs in games but i think XP is wonderful... so far :) Its fast and stable.

    Hi guys

I've heard XP is great for games, I was just wondering if there was any difference between home and pro concerning compatibility. I.e. some games work on home and not pro?

    Cheers

Home, Pro, Server etc.. are all built on exactly the same Kernel so what runs on one will run on them all.. same goes for drivers.

The only difference is what they bolt on with it to sell you.

I went into PC World and had a look at XP installed on some of the machines there. It's definately different. I found the interface looked a bit 'kiddy' (I couldn't think of a bet word, sorry)
All these bright colours and big buttons, it reminded me of 98 with maxed out accessability features!

I suppose it'll take a lot of getting used to. Is networking with XP compatible with win98? I have my pc connected to a PC with broadband running win 98 via LAN, using internet connection sharing.

    cheers
