in my bios, the cou temp is around 60c which im not happy with at all when theres no load on it. ive tried using the monitoring software made by my mobo manufacturers but its still the same. ive tried sisoft sandra, and thats saying its about 35c without load. ive read that sandra aint that impressive so im looking for a decent proggy to do it. or is it a waste of time as itll just agree with the motherboards temp?
oh right, i dunno why im getting such a big difference between my mobo's software and sandra then. have to just sit on it a bit
it could be they are reading different tempratures, well the wrong sensors? i thought they were generally very much the same in reading the temps...
Use speedfan to check what your sensors are reading. Either way i don't even bother with motherboard sensors anymore as they are FAR from accurate. They are only useful for comparing things. like the temperature with a certain HSF, then swapping it for a different HSF and seeing the difference
In the bios, it isn't not under load... There is usually something going on, unlike idling in windows... Thats my theory, even when you boot up through windows my cpu will go up to its top average temp...
i think its because when i had it in before it had arctic silver 5 paste on it. that is the only thing i can think of thats causing it. all the software ive ran is the same readings, the only one different in sisoft sandra which must be well out. thanks anyways guys
You have an athlon64, with an asus mobo, right? If you have cool'n'quiet turned on, your bios temp will be much higher than once you've booted into windows, because it doesn't enable the clock speed reduction til you've booted past the bios, so your bios is in fact reporting the full power, fully clocked temp, even though it's not under any load! ch424
