Hi guys, Hope somebody can help me? I have a gigabyte 7DXR Motherboard. Well the one day I flashed the bios with an upgrade. Went to reboot, Nothing, and I mean nothing, no beep, no post bios screen just blank. The 7DXR has a duel bios but they both are fixed to the motherboard. Is there anything i can do? :cries: :cries:
tried reseting the bios?? on the dual bios mobos, theres a jumper which allows you to switch to the 2nd bios... that should sort it out....
bios I've checked my motherboard and manual. Can't seem to find the jumper to use second bios. Don't think there is one!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you take everything out of the mobo, ie cpu mem video card, everything and then power up do u get anythin?? also is the psu working?? wat are ure other specs??
I have actually replaced the motherboard, with the same model. Everything runs ok with that. When i flashed my bios I was downloading stuff at the same time, D'oh. I would like to get my motherboard up and running to build a second system. One for the missus, She's forever playing the bloody sims. Think I might E-mail gigabyte to see if they know how to bypass the main bios. Only thing is they are a german company.................
As far as i remember that dual bios m/b's can be reprogrammed by putting a flopy in the drive with the bios and flasher utill on and a copy of command.com. You just write a bath file to call the flash program with the command line extensions and let it go. if you use the right switches it will reboot and all will be fine. Well it worked for me. There again i make lots of money out of people flashing there bios wrong and letting me fix it for loads of money. Like "You dont flash anything in windows", if in doubt dont do it.
I shall have to give that a try. Will it work even thou i have no post screen? Like i said i brought a replacement board of the same model, I could always copy that bios to disk. and try that....................
Most BIOS today have what is called a "BootBlock" which can start an executable bootsector off a disk. The reason why you cannot see anything on the screen is because the BIOS is either corrupted or not compatible, and does not know how to run your video card. Yes, the "BootBlock" method will work. Make the AutoExec.bat auto-execute the flash program. You can also use an ISA video card if you want to see what is happening. After the system powers on it should seek the BootBlock from the floppy for a very small time, in that time it should execute your floppy and boot into Real-Mode x86. After doing the boot-block flash (wait about 10 minutes to be safe), remove the disk and clear the CMOS jumpers on the mainboard (with the power off!!) then power it on and hopefully it should boot. Good luck
I'm going to have to try that because you sound like a man who knows what he is on about. And you Vittorio, i haven't forgot you. Won't get time to try it yet, going on hols friday. I shall give it a try when i get back. I shall let you know if it worked................ Thanks guys
