i hav kinda decided on the Asus A7M333. i am under the belief that this is one of the better motherboards. However, I want to know if it is the best. I keep hearing good stories about Abit motherboards. can you lot suggest what you think if the best motherboard in terms of performance. i dont need raid or on board sound or any stuff like that. cheers
I usually use Abits due to very good experiences with them. I was called to troubleshoot a new system based on an Iwill board a few days ago and ended up having to change the psu and ram (which worked fine in other systems) due to the motherboard being incompatible. Also it was very hard to get the RAM seated properly. I just built a system today on an ECS Elite K7S5A, a good budget option, for £50 you get a full ATX board with AGP and 5 PCI slots, DDR and PC133 support, onboard sound, AMR slot, and a very stable and fast system I have found. Hope that helped.
There is no such board as the A7M333. I assume you mean A7V333. Generally (and read a couple of the other threads around at the moment, and you'll see...) Asus, Abit and Gigabyte boards are rated. Many use Epox, soyo, Iwill, MSI, but these are all newer entrants to the market. Often motherboards come down to personal choice. I personally like Abit and Gigabyte boards, thus the three boards I'd recommend are the Abit AT7, Abit KX7-333 and the Gigabyte GA-7VRXP.
theres an A7S333 too. I like my A7V333, hear lotsa horror stories about it, order it from Dabs as i haven't heard anything bad about it, can be a bitch setting up under XP though, check the Asus newsgroups
choosing a motherboard can be a very personal questions as everyone has had good and bad experiences, which will influence any decisions they make... just stick to the basic rules: abit, asus gigabyte are good....
out of them, i definately recommend the Abit KX7-333... why ? because "my opinion" is that it is a better performer and is more stable. .icecube
The AT7 has some features that no other SoA motherboard has ("legacy free", lots of USB 2.0, USB 1.1, IEEE1394 ports, 4-channel RAID). KX7-333 is a more normal motherboard based on the same chipset. Being Abit both offer superb oc features all from the comfort of the bios. The Gigabyte isn't such a good oc board, but very stable and great features at a great price. The gigabyte won THG's round-up of KT333 boards. The AT7 has its unique features, and the KX7-333 is basically a KT333 version of the KR7A-133, which was widely regarded as the best KT266a board.
at the end of the day its just peoples preference of if you are like me you will get an MSI board because it comes in a nice red colour
the reason why we all reccomend abit asus and gigabyte is cause of their reputation as being good manufactures, producing stable mainboards...
