i've gotten the modding bug as a result of my lovely new case being totally black (Cosmos Pure) so now, i want as much of the internals black as possible.

to do this, i was thinking about a cover for my motherboard made from black modder's mesh to cover most of the colour (its a dark blue).

i'm aware that i wont be able to cover the whole motherboard, so i was thinking about a couple of sections for the top side of the board round the ram slots and things like the ATX power connector, and one for the side below the graphics card which would have to be cut round things like the sata connectors and southbridge heatsink (i dont really mind having the rest of my PCI slots covered- i'll never use them).

Very nice idea. Lots of people have done this beautifully (not sure about modders mesh, but other materials) - Lumiere Noire and Cygnus X1 to name two of my favorites.

as you can see from my (pretty basic and slightly confusing) paint edit, this is the basic idea im going for in terms of shape. i'm going to cover connectors i don't use, hence why half my sata ports are covered etc.

There are plastic covers for RAM and PCI(e) slots. I've seen them on eBay.

For the other connectors use the mesh.

yeah i did see those on chilled PC, but tbh, it would mean the motherboard covers would have to have more cutouts making them flimsier.

I would, personally i like the use of black acrylic, and using extra long MB stand off's to support it.

+1. That way, you can also add some etching, etc on the Acrylic to give it a pretty good look.

i would go acrylic, but i don't rally see how it will support itself satisfactorily how i want it shaped. mesh would look much better IMO.

i've revised what im going to be doing and im raising it up further so only my GPU and HSF will be showing, essentially covering everything including cables but providing enough clearance for things like the 24pin ATX.
