What're the problems that you've experienced with the motherboards you've listed? They're all very good boards, have you just had bad luck with reliability or is there something you feel is missing from them?

Good point, I missed that  AFAIK there isn't a chipset that supports 478 with the new technology, Intel abandoned their older processors when they moved on...

You're out of luck man; socket 478 just plain does not support DDR2. There isnt a single motherboard in existence that fits the bill. You're either going to have to shell out for a new CPU, or get new RAM.

 It will be difficult but shouldn't be impossible. For instance there's a few wierd mobos which have both Skt478 & LGA775 which may fit the bill. Skt478 is predominantly DDR(1) & AGP though, and that's not actually bad at all esp with DDR(1) still being a lot cheaper than DDR2. TBH I'd suggest you sell your sweaty Prescott as it's notoriously hot and has compatibility issues on Skt478. I'd suggest selling it and buying a LGA775 P4 or else but a Skt478 NorthWood CPU (always 512K) which is slightly faster per clock cycle and runs much cooler too.

You do realize that without Intel we would all be using Motorola 6800's and an ISA bus right? besides the obvious CPU development, they designed PCI, AGP, USB, etc etc etc. Just thought I'd mention that before you get out your hachit.
