A quick reminder that UK Mothers day is Sunday 15th March, next weekend. Oh, you forgot? Well, how about 15% off the flowers? I was shopping about online and stumbled on a code which I've posted under bargains in the for sale thread. Happy Mothers Day you thrifty devils!
I thought it was today My Mum is quite happy with an early card and flowers as she'll no doubt end up with more from my siblings on the actual day anyway
Only thing I can think about when I hear about mothers day is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0DeIqJm4vM
I may get some hate for saying this, but it's a complete waste of time and money. Far too commercialized (In England at least) But my general train of thought is, Why treat my mum on a single specific day of each year, I buy her things all year round, That's a much nicer way of doing things, and it keeps her happy/quiet. I also have the same thought to Valentines Day, Fathers day etc. Sam
I agree, but it is the cultural convention. I get flowers because my working schedule (the limited time outside which I spend on my wife and son) leaves little time for making something thoughtful (and mostly free) - it's a gesture in the right direction. Love costs nothing and good care only slightly more but if you've little time a thoughtful bunch of flowers, card or phone call are a step in the right direction.
I have disowned my mother because she abused me as a child. She gets nothing. Sorry to be a bit of a downer on the thread.
For once I am prepared! Take that, stupid "holiday" that doesn't even have the courtesy to give me a day off.
