And yesterday, in the deep dark depths of the night, I hit a pothole, just managed to stand up on the pegs so that I wouldn't be completely thrown off the bike, and managed to shear off my right footpeg.

Well, if it is your chain slipping, which is plausible, it's friggin dangerous if it's slipping enough to jump teeth and make a clunk.

Awesome! Seeing some potential for LAN party knee down action there ;)

In other news, I'm hopefully test riding a Daytona 675 tomorrow :naughty:

Good luck! remember to go fast enough when doing the emergency stop, as well as the swerve. something that helped me- when you're doing the controlled stop, even though there isn't a required speed, try to get to the magical 50km/h, and even though they don't need to tell you your speed through the trap, ask him/her and they'll let you know, gives you a good feel for it when you do need to do the required speed.

Just wring the bike's neck in second and you'll be just fine!

Good luck to you too. Remember, shoulder checks before you do anything and everything. I'm sure it's been said to you a million times, but remember, you could go the wrong way as much as you want and you won't get penalised for it. Heck, I'm pretty sure you could pass if you didn't know right from left- the only proviso is that you make every turn and maneuver properly.

Yeah - one of my examiners previous students got them REALLY lost - quite a funny story.

That does highlight that the bike examiners are actually pretty chilled out guys, not like the car examiners at all - these guys all want you to pass.

It's common knowledge that getting lost is half the pleasure of biking anyway, perhaps that's why they don't mind!

Turned out it was booked out all day sadly. Rode an R6 (blargh, no thanks) and a Z800 (yes please!) instead.

Hopefully trying the Daytona this Saturday instead, but I've since heard of some rule about having to be a full year off restriction before being allowed to test ride at this dealer. I said I was 21 and had been riding two years, surely they would of worked it out? They didn't mention anything about it, I'm certainly not.

I'm sure they'd let you. I don't see any reason why someone who's just passed their DAS after 4 days of riding should test ride it, whilst someone who's been riding for 2 years, albeit under restriction, shouldn't. In my humble opinion, though, why would you want a Z800 if you already have a XJ6? surely it's just more of the same? But those vids have been entertaining.

In other news, my bike is, to put it lightly, ballsed. Every time I go into 2nd and give it any throttle, it jumps straight into neutral. and I look like an idiot. Was trying to keep up with a guy on a GSR 600 with a Akrapovic GP pipe, which was a lot faster down the straights than mine, although he seemed incredibly timid around corners, where I caught up. And then I stopped because I was getting annoyed at my 2nd gear.

Because the Z800 was everything the XJ6N is except better in basically every single way. Put it this way, my XJ6 won't power wheelie over hills, the Z800 did! I don't know yet, I've only really started testing the water with more powerful bikes. As a replacement for my XJ6 I like the look of the Tiger Sport, especially since I'm fairly tall.

Despite all this, I still enjoy my XJ6 an awful lot. It suits my abilities perfectly, I can get both pegs down quite happily now, but I long for something with a bit more...character.

Yup me too, I'll have to stock up on some elbow sliders :naughty:

There's nothing like test riding bikes, I do like the idea of the Daytona but then again I like the idea of pretty much any bike ... I think the local dealer knows that and keeps lending me bikes, the last one was the RSV4, Damn what a damn fine bike. (the other half despairs) :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:
