I suppose I should also ask about how easy/cheap it is to get a bike transported.

I don't know why I'd bother taking a bike up here actually, given that I'm mainly here during the winter months.

Tell me about it, current score: a set of dustcaps and a lovely big keymark right down the side of my e46. I suppose I could also add a wing mirror from the Beat but that wasn't while I owned it.

You can get 'em transported to anywhere for about £100 or so. Why not ride it? It'd be a laugh :D

Couldn't use the M-way, and the A1 is officially my most hated road on earth.

I guess there goes my excuse as to why I 'need' a bike. :D

Ah. Bikes don't belong on those kinds of roads anyway :D

So I got the SV home today; couldn't be happier. Even with the restrictor in, this thing is crazy fast, twist the throttle, it squats, and takes off! Getting used to the new riding postition is... interesting too. there was solid traffic from Brent Cross to Arnos Grove, about 6 miles worth of filtering. The bike is fantastic, though.

I reckon we need to do that BT meetup this year too!

Would love to, but we're spread across such a wide area.

I'd love to show you around mid-Wales .....

Best road in Britain - and a cafe at the end of it.

The 44 from Worcester to Aber is awesome as well. Plus if you haven't already, try the b4391 from Ffestiniog to near Afon Tryweryn. Oh my god :D

Epic roads - I have been known to go all the way down the M6 from where I live in Manchester, onto the M5, and then off at the A40 just to do that road to Aber - oh god, where are my bike keys!?!

Sold my viffer at the beginning of last year after losing a huge contract, haven't got round to buying (or being able to afford) another one yet, really.

I think I might just bite the bullet and go for a CBR125R; I doubt I'm gonna get a lot of practical use out of it.

Might just be that I already have an appropriate jacket too, will need to check if it is meant for biking (would be a bit odd if a Guy Martin branded jacket wasn't, but then I haven't noticed any particular reinforcement).

EDIT: Looks like it's made by Scott Leathers.

Just wait until you get it de-restricted! :D The way it pulls in 2nd through 4th never ever gets boring! Ever! It's got power and torque where you need it for road riding. In a fast, twisty section you hardly have to change gear! The bike is fantastic! Keep an eye out for sorting the suspension out and you'll have a proper missile! I'm waiting until I have enough money to do mine. :)

Well, yesterday my Abloy 362 arrived (ebay, of course - who would pay retail prices for this thing?), and my Pragmasis Protector 16mm is on the way. Because **** all thieves and the transit vans they rode in on. If anyone's taking this new bike of mine, they're going to have to really work for it :)

Oh yeah, I bought the CBR250R, and it's total sex. I took it for an illegal spin on a no-access back road and am frankly flabbergasted that this is what bikers call a "small" bike. I hit 85mph without trying and at 80mph there are no uncomfortable vibrations or wobbles; how much more power do you need? :eyebrow:

Also got an Oxford Stormex cover for it, because it's too pretty for its own good and must hide its indecency in public. Seriously impressed with the cover, it's like a small padded tent.

Second DAS lesson is tomorrow, and now I finally have a really good reason to try and get it all over and done with...

Nice work! Enjoy :) those stormex covers are one product Oxford make which is actually worth the cash

Oil & filter change on my bike today. Running so sweet that I took it out for 150 miles afterwards. Bit chilly but dry roads and mid Wales was looking lovely in the sun.

On Friday I was knocked off my bike that I'd owned for 3 days. Filtered to the front of queue at a set of lights stopped at the front just as it turned green, the car on my right 'expected' me to move off, I hadn't noticed the light had gone green; they moved forward and bumped the exhaust, and I toppled over. No damage, bar a scuffed crash bung. bit annoying though.

Think I'm a bit accident prone!

Well, hitting you from behind - that's totally their fault - get the bike checked and fixed under their insurance.

Everybody has a few prangs to start with, the secret is to learn quickly, and make sure they're not serious.
