I had a Honda Bros 400 as my 2nd bike after my CG125. Fantastic bike for 33bhp, will cruise at 75mph all day long in top. Put another 9000km on it, never had a issue with it, serviced it myself, and it just kept on running.

If you can find one that has been looked after, I was only the 3rd owner of mine since it was imported in 1991. They are cracking.

I find it humorous to watch and sometimes even catch myself about to do the same thing before realising it's pretty much pointless. A bike can overtake without me driving with two wheels on the verge!

Single sided swing-arm too; how random! Looks just like a CB-1 400 just with a different engine and slightly different frame. Pegs look identical too. Cool :D

Same frame as early NSR250's. The swingarm even has a polished "ELF France" Badge, to show its GP roots.

They are beautiful, and I've always loved single swingarm bikes, the one I'm watching on ebay is not in great condition, but has MOT and only needs a few little things doing.

It's currently at £310, so if it stays low I might just grab myself a bargain :thumb:

Ok so i read this thread and its updates, but never post.

I rode my dads honda cb 500 up the road and back the other day, and i am sold, i want one!

Now i'm 6'5 and i need a bike that doesnt make me look silly, and that is also powerful enough to pull me around, but not that i'm going to kill myself!

My dads selling the honda for a triumph with 1000cc's, probably something he wont let me ride as my first bike haha.

Anyone got any recommendations to bike physical size and engine size?

I'm in exactly the same boat (I'm 6'4) but I've just spent a year on a small Suzuki gn125, and its actually not been to bad. The thing is most people look at seat height, but that's just the height the seat is off the ground, a bike with a high seat can still have no leg room and conversely a bike with a low seat can be surprisingly roomy (like my 125 is)

Test ride is the best advice, but as a (very vague) rule of thumb regarding fitting taller riders: Offroad/supermoto > cruisers/tourers > sports tourers > super sports (from best to worst) but really it's all in the ride.

It depends on the road, but on A-roads and the like, to be fair, it's a 99+% certainty they want past soonish. It's easier to get out the way. I'll pull over pretty far to let a bike past, but never enough to put wheels on the dirty bits.

I move to the left to put them in a side mirror more than anything, hell my cars small enough that i share lanes with motorbikes, they're not put in any danger what so ever :D

If it's a safe place to be overtaken I pull in a bit, and the vast majority of bikers that pass me give a nod/thumbs up/wave as they go. But then I wouldn't do it if it was not a good place to over take, and I'd never go so far over that my wheels weren't on tarmac.

When I'm riding I appreciate cars that move over for me, mostly because that way I know they've seen me and are aware, I hate that feeling when you're not sure if a driver has seen you or not :worried:

Edit: it also depends on the riders road position, I wouldn't move over if they were a good way back in the centre of the lane, but if they are close behind and towards the white line, then I know they're gonna go round, so I'll move in.

On a similar note, yesterday I was following a council van up a really nice twisty stretch of road, they were doing about 40 and I was bored, looking to overtake. They pulled in and stopped to let me past since there weren't going to be any places to pass till after the twisties.

Another one to consider, Shuriken, is the Suzuki Goose 350. Single cylinder 33bhp. Appears to come with USD forks as standard, and looks pretty decent! Grey import bike only

Booked a test ride tomorrow on Kawasaki Versys, very tempted to swap my ER6 for one. With my ER6 has the deposit, its £98 per month for a new bike. Hard to resist really.

GET THE VERSYS, DO IT DO IT DO IT!!

Absolutely one of the best bikes in the world :D

@RTT: The Goose has been on my look out for list for a while, but they seem to be a lot rarer than the bros.

Those two are pretty much the only 33hp stock bikes in existence that aren't crossers, cruisers or a ninja 250, and as I don't really want a crosser, cruiser or sports bike, I'm quite limited
