For the CO2 canister to get the tyre up to 40psi, the canister itself would have to be pressurised to at least 40psi, and I'm guessing they can't safely pressurise those little cans that much. Even with 2 of those canisters you wouldn't be able to get the tyre pressure past 20psi if the canisters are only 20psi.

When you bare in mind that a 2L pop bottle will take ~150-200psi a steel capsule like that is going to be considerably higher than 20psi. It's not supposed to be a permanent solution and the capsules cost pennies but there's not that much room in the place where the toolkit lives, only enough for three.

The bottles/canisters can withstand 1000+PSI as written on the side of mine ;)

    Edit; beaten by the M

    Edit2:

Ah. Maybe that explains it. I've got enough room under my seat to host a party :D

I'd love to make the trip to Isle of Man TT but I doubt I'll be able to make it. With a bit of luck maybe I'll be able to go next year.

    edit:
I'd never seen the canisters before but a quick google now to find a picture shows that you're right they shouldn't leak. :duh: (I'd have thought they would get at least get you upto 30psi though!)

im going to be buying a car soon (dont worry im keeping the bike) but i was just wondering if any insurance companies do a car + bike policy? i know u can get multi car and multi bike, but does anyone do both?
im asking because car insurance is expensive, and using my 3 years ncb drops the price alot, and a multi policy usually has a 10-20% discount

    What country? GB?

Here, I can get a bike as a second contract to my car (starting at the same no-claim bonus)
I cannot, however, get a car as a second contract to my bike.
(nor a second bike to a first bike)

I don't know whether you can use a bikes NCB for a car, certainly when I got my insurance they asked about both.

11C today. Loads of bikes out. Spring is here! :D

New rear tyre fitted yesterday. Managed 4.5k miles out of the last one, which isn't bad :cooldude: Also fitted a nicer set of grab rails to the back, it really tidies it up a treat and exposes more of my lovely, lovely Akrapovics :D :D

What tyres are you using? I switched to Michelin Pilot Road 2s from Avon storms that the previous owner had. The Avons lasted about 4k while my last PR2 rear lasted 6k before the puncture (it did need replacing soon though, might have got another 500 on it). The PR2s are great, the two compounds mean they square off less and they're nice and grippy too, expensive though at £120 rear and £100 front + fitting.

My bike is currently off the road, the crank position sensor died and it's £150 for a new set with its mounting, fortunately I can get the sensor on its own for £10 =).

Currently on Pirelli Diablo Corsa IIIs, excellent in the dry but somewhat scary in the wet, very much a summer tyre :worried: Looks like I am fairly typical in that I'm getting through two rear tyres for every front tyre. Once the front is out (and assuming the rear is ready to go at that point) I'm going to go for some Michelin Pilot Power 2CTs, as they are universally held in good regard :cooldude:

Hope the sensor replacement goes well. Easy to do?

Hmm, I don't get much more life out of my front compared to my rear, not quite sure why that is, maybe I'm more aggressive on the brakes than normal or maybe with the weight of my bike it just wears faster than normal. 2CTs are like PR2s but a bit stickier and sportier so probably wont last quite as long, if I had a bike more suited to sporty riding I would be using them no doubt, I'll be interested to hear how you get on with them. For that matter I'm not sure they make a rear that would fit my bike with it's 18" rim.

Replacing the sensor isn't that hard but the wire both from the ECU and the sensor itself (even the new ones) is really crap and very difficult to solder to. I have already replaced the sensors, it was my repair that failed, right in the middle of an overtake too:eeek: so I'm going to have to find some way of connecting the wires that's more robust.

Edit; I've just noticed that you're back on the bit-tech staff, or am I confusing you with someone else?

    Do more wheelies :D

Indeed. My reasons for going over to them next are
    a) the corsa IIIs are now discontinued so getting hold of them will be difficult later in the year
    b) the reputation of the 2CTs
    c) related to the above, they are meant to be brilliant in the wet, more so than they should be given their focus

vBulletin is crap and allowed me, as a moderator, to boost myself up to Admin. Thanks for reminding me; I must tell Jamie about this :D

I've never had the front wheel off the ground and I hate to think what it would do to the shaft drive if I did. It would reduce tyre wear if I did though.

If they're anything like PR2s you'll love them

ooo, ooo make me a mod for a day:D, I'll be good :worried:

Grrr, we just got 10cm of fresh SNOW yesterday :grr:

They'd kill you for saying something like that in Germany* :D

I have the Michelin Pilot Road 2 on one bike and they feel great, look to be lasting good as well.
Bike's an Aprilia RST1000, Tyres are better than the Metzler Z6 they replaced, which in turn were better than the Metzler Z4
The other on has Bridgestone BT-021, also a 2 compound tyre, and feeling good.
Bike's a Ducati 750SS, Tyres are better than the Pirelli Diablo's they replaced.

I'm confused... you saying I'd get killed for doing wheelies or for not doing wheelies?
