You'd get "killed" (Death-by-flame-war) :thumb: by mentioning on the german internet even the possibillity of performing a wheely with a shaft driven bike.

They're a bit daft about it. Don't believe things like...video's and eye witnesses :D

They don't mind wheelies in general, they just refuse (in a Jihad kind of way) to believe they are possible with a shaft driven bike.

I know it's possible because I've seen it done (if it's on youtube it MUST be true, right?). Thing is though that while you replace a drive chain every couple of thousand miles so it's not a huge deal if you bust it but the shaft and all it's splines, the bearings in the paralever etc are meant to last the life of the bike and they're expensive. On top of that my bike is HEAVY (237kg) which would put even more strain on the bearings/spline etc. Also, I'm chicken

    Want. Need. :D

same as my bike but the Super Enduro variant, rather than the Super Moto, which has been converted to Super Moto. Confused? :D Sump guard, different exhaust header routing, slightly taller (yes that's possible!), smaller tank, and more orange. And black rims rather than graphite. I think I'd remove the stickers though

Do you find the tall riding position makes tiding in traffic easier? I rode my uncles R80GS in London but we weren't really in heavy traffic and I didn't ride it for long enough to get a proper feel for it.

Some of you may know that one of my hobbies is CAD, recently I've been working on motorbikes so I thought I'd post an image of my latest design. It contains all my preferences for a motorbike and some work-arounds for limitations of various things such as BMWs 2 cylinder boxer engine. Criticism and input welcomed, I've particularly been having problems with the bodywork, partly because I'm much better at mechanical design and partly because of the limitations of my cad program.

    1200cc 4 cylinder boxer engine
Integrated engine and transmission (transmission below crankshaft within crankcase)
Parallel lever suspension front and rear.
    Hub centre steering
Hubless rear wheel ('coz it looks cool)

There are still some bits missing, foot controls, airbox and rear brake at the moment

    Looks like a buell tank/seat crossed with a HP2 crossed with a jap-bike-front-end and the exhaust nicked off a buell/RC8 :D

    Cool concept! Hubless wheels :D

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but it looks like you'd have to wrap your legs around the cylinders to sit on it. Nice & toasty in winter ;)

Nope, knees go on top of the cylinders, feet towards the rear in a racing crouch.

Hubless wheels aren't a new concept really, I know of at least two choppers that have had hubless rears. Hub centre steering isn't new either, Bimota used it on their Testi 2D and 3D, I've just exanded on the idea. It means that steering forces and braking forces are separated and you get no brake dive using up all your suspension travel and no change in steering geometry.

I use autodesk inventor, I have solidworks too and I should reall use it, inventor seems to be fairly memry inefficient, this file uses up all of my 4GB even with all the internal parts supressed. Either that of I'll have to finally get round to I stalling vista 64bit so I can use all my 8GB.

I get weird optical illusion thing where the tank looks like it goes past the front of the bike.

God damn you! Once you see it, you can't un-see it. I do like the look of that bike though Moriquendi :thumb: I love the idea of hubless wheels, ever since that futuristic bike game on the N64 (Extreme G?)

I can't see it... maybe because I built it so my eyes automatically see the right geometry. I have just realised though that I forgot to turn perspective on before I rendered that image which is why the rear wheel looks so huge and the front so puny. Have a new one
    [IMG]

Xir, you an get stuff that you pour into the tank that seals the inside. Thats assuming you have a leaking tank rather than a leaking connection.

How does the hub-less wheel work, like how is power transferred into the wheel itself, and how is braking done with the rear hub?

Why not try switching to a V-4 Engine like the RSV4 instead of the boxer? It would give the bike a slimmer profile, and at least make the tranny(?) protrude a bit less out the side of the bike.

Other than that its a very nice design, its like a futuristic/exotic hybrid. :thumb:
