If thats your first service you really should get it done, as it's probably the most important oil change your bike will have.

Don't think I would find it boring riding around with someone on a 125.

Basically the purpose of the first service ad oil change is to remove the wear products that result from the breaking in process so at the moment you have little particles of metal floating around in your oil, if you see it when it comes out it'll look like metallic paint. Get the service done asap.

Be careful lads, Was pulling out of my driveway and some eastern looking lad with a car full of girls, was on the wrong side of the road, Heading right for me going around 40, He barely missed me, Wanted him to stop to give him a good lesson, Didn't happen though...

    Careful peeps

I guess he was too distracted :)

I had the reverse last night, literally. The lowered 306 in front was revving his engine then traffic lights turn green and decided to put it in reverse and went straight into my front tire. Glad I had neutral, breaks off and both feet down, was able to just keep it upright. This followed by me kicking the stand down getting off my bike walking up to his window and giving him the a f**king bollocking. The police biker across the street almost flipped when he saw his car hit me.

After details were taken I went on my way as no damage was caused. This morning I got a call from the copper from last night saying he was closing the report and wanted to let me know he was done for the equivalent of "Careless Driving", side road fine (The Netherlands).

Demonstrative example of why newbies shouldn't buy faired bikes. Not that you have to be a newb to have this happen but it'll happen more often.

i feel the need to clarify. i know you were only using my situation as a example but i do not want people believing the wrong thing.

the bike is 20 years old. the plastic was wrecked by a previous owner. i have yet in the half year ive been riding the bike to dump/drop/wreck it. (hopefully i did not just jinx my self) i was looking to find the plastic used or new to replace the previous damage. it is not easy nor cheep to find 20 year old plastic. honda no longer manufactures them and what is left on there shelf comes at a premium.

had it been a 15-20 year newer CBR i would be much cheeper to locate used and new OEM and aftermarket parts.

i just want to clarify that the high prices come from the fact that the bike is so old not that fairings are so expensive

I would suggest finding someone who knows how to make fairings, before I lost my bike I wanted to replace the fairings as they had been resprayed by a previous owner and not too well. The price a freind of mine quoted my was less than a quater the retail price and parts are still easily attainable.
So if you want to keep the fairings I would try to find someone else going street fighter can look better depending on your personal taste.

Word up. I'm looking to book my direct access in a few weeks time, have ridden under a CBT for the two years that a had it about 2 years ago.

I'm starting to look at bikes and consider what would do me well for a first bike. I'm certainly not looking for anything big, my thought is that 400 or 500cc should be more than enough? I'm sure this question has been asked already on this thread but 43 pages is a lot to go through! Some suggestions would be appreciated. I still have all my gear from a few years ago, so it's only really a bike I'm looking for. Money wise....I see no point in spending more than £1500 seeing as this will get battered to hell no doubt...

If you can find one that has been looked after, Honda CB500. Great Great bikes, and in the right hands can really hustle, super reliable also.

One thing to look out for... The best bikes for someone in your situation are also the bikes that schools use. Hardly surprising really but it means that you'll need to be careful to avoid a bike that's been raped by newbs regularly for a couple of years before being sold. Might be good if you intend to keep it for a year or two before moving on but you may be buying a whole basket of problems.

I learned on a CBF500 and it was a great bike to learn on.

    Weird in counter this morning.

Was in the town centre and 2 girls in a car tried cutting me off and where blatantly laughing well they where doing it, The lights turned red. I've gone around got infront of them, got off the bike removed my helmet to give them a good shouting at. The driver which was a fitty got out her car burst out crying hugged me and apologised. Random or what?
