ooh, that is nice! I broke apart an old cd-rom a while ago trying to figure something like this out, I pretty much failed. How do you get it to stop? Do you just hold down the button until it gets far enough, or do you press it once and it stops when it gets to the bottom (like a garage door?) Looks uber-nice, good job.
Definately the best floppy stealth mod I've seen. Nice, original (as far as i can tell) mod. One question. Is the front of the lcd flush with the bezel cutout? If so is there any danger of jamming and/or scratching? Wicked idea! //dear god, please tell me i didn't use the word "wicked"... how very 90's of me.
Id like to see the guide for the switches too! I want to do something like the switches for my CD-ROM drives. Very very cool mod!
I love this! Unique and functional! Excellent. This reminds me of that pneumatic case a couple of weeks ago, which was sweet in its own way but it didnt really do anything. But this actually has a purpose!
I loved that pnumatic thing too. Way to pricey for me to even get started on...... Id think it would be way cool if you just flick a switch and then your whole case opens so you can work on it.........
Ya, I've been thinking about a delorean style "Gull wing" mod... Gotta find a good gear reduction system first, so I can do it without drawing major amps, I have a 550W PSU, and it powers a lot, (160gbX4 7200RPM in raid 0+1 +60gb 7200 + 40GB 7200 + CDRW+DVDRW+DVD +LCD Screen + motors + LOTSA FANS) and I don't wanna over draw... The motors I have now draw about .3 A at 12V, which isn't bad, but they aren't pushing much, Gonna have to go a bit heftier for the gull wing...
Pics always die when I VPN to my work with my laptop... Sorry, but work is work, Gotta do it. It should be back now.
WoW I say this is the coolest lcd I have even seen bar none! That just rocks Just make sure yoy don't rase it with a finger in there the 4 fingered moder lol Great work!
Pflumingo you have inspired me to mount a LCD onto the tray of the Slot CD-Rom I just found. If I virticaly mounted it in a wood box it would make a very sweet MP3/Cd Player.
Ok, Quickie movie put together with Windows new movie maker2, Has some nice stuff I must say... Ok. Still not StudioDV, but better than the first one by far. MOVIE!... (wmf, sorry penguins and Veggies) Edit... Ok, Backup server, If my service provider won't do it... I will... Backup server for movie. edit RTT: bit-tech mirror :: here
i guess i'm just lucky... movie works just fine for me the 'door' opened and closed a little fast (did you open then close, or did auto close that quickly ?)
It doesn't "Auto close" I just closed it that quick... I can leave it open indefinately... The speed is dependent on the voltage I give the motor, If I go with 7 Volts, it goes a little slower, but gets hung up sometimes, I need the 12V to give it enough power, and it goes fast like the doors on Starwars or Star Trek... It doesn't really hurt to get your fingers in this one, the motor spindle is made to slip if it encounters too much resistance.
i wanna see how that stealthed bus works. you just put it on hinges i think, but what latches it closed? or does it stay open?
