How can you accomplish this? Like you see on many stereos. I bet they cost a lot, or is there a way to "make" your own?

    Saying that,

    i had a dream once,

How about putting a windscreen wiper motor inside of yer pc (yer right)

    Switch on the front,

swinging arm, so when you pressed the switch, the side panel opens up nice and slowly, you press it agin, it close's.

Look i said it was a dream ok!

lol, my idea was to built a reobaybus with microcontroller and lcd, and all the temp sensors are attached to the microcontroller. The microcontroller changes the state of the reos according to the temperature of the temp sensors. With a switch the user can toggle between manual and auto control, when manual the user can change the fans manually. And then, when the temperature too high, the microcontroller can override the manual setting and change the state of the reos again. This could also be useful when using a remote to control the fans...

Mmmmmmmmm, endless possibilities with motorized pots....

Well, it's a surplus kind of place. I imagine you'd pay significantly more at a full line house.

    thats it!

that could be a soulution to my dilema, for the ultimate bay bus, remote control fan speed.

You could mod one of those Hydraulic cases that Directron.com sells. I was actually looking to get one of those case but I found out that it isn't Hydraulic. It's really a "dampened" fall. You still need to manually move the cover up.

But with one of those "MOTORIZED 10K SLIDE POT" you could make it move up and down.

just an idea I had. :D

IIRC there was a post here a month or so back from somebody selling a software-controlled baybus - disappeared off the end of the back pages and from my history

    Anybody bookmarked it?

Controlled 4 fans, no knobs but on-screen sliders, 7 preset speeds IIRC

How does that motorised pot work? +6v turns it up, -6v turns it down? Just thinking about connecting one to the GPO on my MO LCD screen and controlling the fan speed via software?
