    Hi,

I have a Mac Pro 2009 chassis where I want to mount a Micro-ATX motherboard (Gigabyte).

To do that, I need a tray. Can this be used? http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=130_210_750_753&products_id=29654

Also, how would I mount that in the Mac Pro case?? Are there some tutorials on how to mount trays?

    Thanks in advance!

    *edit*
Or would this be better, if I removed the expansion slots, and only used the tray? http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2014.html

Would be cheaper for me :)

Yeah, but now I'm asking how to mount a tray in a case. Have read through all the author's posts in the threads, but couldn't get a clear answer. But maybe it's just me being dumb, haha :D

There's no difference of a full ATX or µATX tray basically. The only difference is that the µATX has three PCI-slots less making it easier to fiddle it into the MacPro case.

What you do is, you make a cutout on the back pf the MacPro case, where the whole backpanel will be mounted and the tray itself will simply be bolted to the old tray you find inside the MacPro case.
This isn't rocket-science and the pictures in the old threads I linked there for you show how it's done.

Thanks. I still couldn't find anything in the threads you linked to (but again, maybe it's just me), but I Google'd around and found some useful stuff :)

    Have found this tray: http://www.performance-pcs.com/cata..._info&cPath=130_210_750_753&products_id=28977

Would this be easy to mount? Should I remove the mounting points from the existing tray in the Mac Pro (I guess the new tray wouldn't fit using those), and mount some new?

Have tried JB welting a standoff to a piece of aluminum, and it's ROCK solid.. I can even hammer on it without breaking it. So I guess I'll just JB Welt the new standoffs to mount the tray. Wouldn't this be ok?

    Thanks for the help! :)

Have also made a mockup of the proposed layout in the case.

What do you guys think? I will keep the Apple Powersupply fan in the top I guess.

You didn't see the plethora of explaining pictures in the threads I linked you there?

Even without reading you get shown in several pictures of how to mount the ATX-tray into the MacPro case.

Cut a hole into the back of the MacPro to match the ATX-tray and fix it with some bolts/rivets etc. You can't keep the old holes of the MacPro, they don't fit, so cut them away and make a new backside.

In one of the thread I linked you, there's everything shown you need to do on the first page allready -> http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=200555
