Would anyone up for some Mountain Biking? Quite a few of us here at bit-tech/TrustedReviews HQ are into it and on our doorstep is a huge forest with really good trails (it was voted MBUK's Trail of the Year). Swinley Forest is just south of Bracknell and is easily accessible by train from the Reading-London Waterloo line, and also from the M3 and M4 motorways. Any takers? This thread can also double as a general Mountain Biking discussion thread
There's a chance I might be in Wales next month for some biking, but I'm not sure if it's anywhere near Aber or not
wow i am thinking of getting into trial biking thing is im really busy with rowing for like the rest of the year! which sucls a little, plus im riding a crappy specialised hardrock which im starting to feel the limitations on lol o well maybe next time?
I'm off to Aber either tomorrow or Friday weather permitting (not biking unfortunately - as I don't have a bike... yet) I've used my brother's bike on the Taff trail (a section starts just below my village near the Welsh International Climbing Centre) which was a really good run. I really need to get my own bike
Bloomin typical, i just sold my trail bike and converted my other bike to single speed with slicks for messing around jumping off things in town etc.
Bargoed rocks. Geddit? I've done the Taff Trail before, and tbh, it's not THAT much of a "trail", more of a long route near a river.
Bah I'm back moving back to Wolves on saturday otherwise I'd say if you can all get to Aber after a day of cycling then I'd take you on a tour of the pubs (at one point there were more pubs per square mile than anywhere else in Europe, and theres still 60 or so in the town ). Saying that, it'd be June which means all the students will be gone so the pubs will either be empty, full of angry brummie tourists or feral locals, or combinations of the latter which are best avoided....
I must get back into mountain biking, have not done it for years, since i crashed and nearly killed my self, which i will say now, was NOT planned Any body ridden along the South Downs Way at all, other than myself? Sam
Yer i'd be up for it, my gf lives in Windlesham which is just up the road from Bracknall and your HQ, If I go down hers on that weekend i'm sure she'd give me a lift there (really need to learn to drive this year ). When were you planning on ridding? I can see this being entertaining, a bunch of gks on bikes throwing themselves up/down hills (definately taking my camera) Any prizes for best trick/crash?
We're planning to be there Saturday morning (weather permitting, the forecast cannot make its mind up), but I would guess we'll also be there the majority of weekends this summer too As for prizes/crashes/etc, last week Rich was off to A&E after completely mashing his knee up... So, err, probably best to not have any incentive to push the odds any more than we need to What are you gonna buy?
No idea really. Probably something cheap and cheerful (and light). I suppose I'll have a look when Halfords have a sale on or something. Actually, my village (you can just about see it at the top of the map I linked) is nicknamed Bedrock (Bedlinog) by all the other villages in the area, something to do with living in the middle of nowhere on top of a mountain :/
Is that The Lookout? If so I'll try and make it (I was going Sunday anyway, so...), although I shan't be jumping, after a nasty accident a while ago
Ooh! Sounds fun! I won't be able to come down until after 16th though because I've got exams then dangerous levels of alcohol consumption, then packing all my stuff up and saying goodbye to my gf. <--- Edit: This sounds a lot more sexual than I had intended. Does it matter if my bike is just an oldskool average joe mountain bike? It doesn't have suspension or any of that newfangled jazz.
Looking to get into mountain biking myself but can barely walk atm as it is (not long out a cast)! But if you lot are making this a regular thing sure I'll make it downa t one point or another .
