My good lady has an increasing problem with shaking hands which makes using a mouse pretty problematic. Which is a real nuisance as she loves hidden object games but also clicking inside a small box to add text is really tricky. Any useful alternatives to the mouse?
Morning, did not expect a response so early. As to your suggestion, we have tried that and you are correct it is not fun and it is also laborious so not really an effective alternative.
What about a joystick and something like JoyToKey? With JoyToKey you can set it so the joystick axis move the mouse, and the buttons activate the mouse keys.
I'd say a trackball with a huge ball. I wouldn't suggest thumb operated ball though. Nice thing with trackballs is that you won't move the cursor when clicking.
Worth giving this a go its free software. Basically smooths out move movements and is designed for people with hand tremors http://www.steadymouse.com/
Perhaps something like this "vertical" mouse? I think they're primarily designed to relieve RSI-type symptoms, but might help your good lady. It appears that they offer a 14-day trial too. http://www.posturite.co.uk/ergonomic-mice-keyboards/ergonomic-mice/penguin-mouse.html
Not sure about this to be honest. I have thought of about something like this myself. Found that and downloaded. Will let you know how she gets on with it. Will maybe give the company a call and see if this is suitable. Not really as she has to spend a fair bit of time in or rather on her bed and the way I have the monitor wall mounted to be a nice distance for her eyesight I think a big and close up screen would not work so well. But not discounted totally.
Just phoned the company and spoke to a very nice bloke who immediately said that that this would probably not help but something like this would.http://www.posturite.co.uk/ergonomic-mice-keyboards/roll-bar-mice.html But at over 200 quid it is far more than I would want to spend on an accessory that would get little use as Edie only really checks her mail and Facebook and play the odd HOG. But the guy did say that something like a wrist rest might be of some benefit. http://www.posturite.co.uk/posture-supports/wrist-rests/ergobeads-mouse-wrist-rest.html and I can use it on a 14 day trial period so might be worth a try.
like GuilleAcoustic said, track ball sounds ideal. Dont seem to pricey! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kensington-...F8&qid=1439472494&sr=8-1&keywords=ball+mouse?
You can get boxes which 'dumb down' the input of a mouse to compensate for shakey hands. They sit in line with the mouse connection and smooth out the rapid input signals. I'll see if I can find something.
Do you mean this? http://www.livingmadeeasy.org.uk/co...ve-mouse-adapter-0110754-1186-information.htm
That's the fella I was thinking of. Didn't have a clue about the price, just knew I had seen it somewhere
