I need a mouse for a computer kept in a garage where it gets beat up, greasy, and everything else for a family member. I knew there were keyboards that you can wash but I didn't know if there was a mouse, kinda like the indestructible USB drive that can really take a beating and is designed for it. I've found a mouse by Grandtec that's supposedly everything proof but it only comes in light blue and other bright colors. I'm hoping there something a bit more.....manly? lol

A close family member of mine is the "community mechanic" and he is really one of the kindest people you'll ever know. He works on my vehicles for nothing, and never wants anything. If I ever want to pay him he says no and I end up getting him something for his troubles, usually tools or something he needs. He almost always only charges the other people the cost of the parts, even it it's a really big job.

TBH, I'd just pick up some really bog-standard Dell or MS mice for £3-£5 each. You could get three or four of those for the same price as any supposedly rugged model and, if they're the old mechanical sort especially, I'd be very surprised if they broke.

For a mouse I'd be inclined to go with some kind of trackball maybe a 2nd hand kensington or something... keyboard any old POS really... put a couple layers of cling film over the top and it's pretty much waterproof..

and Lee... plugging own products outside of thine own forum... *gasp* for shame!

im with joe on that one. Any optical mouse that gets cleaned once in a while will survive. I used to work at Kenworth and in the garage there were ball mouse that were freaking nasty but they still worked and would have worked even better if they were optical

A keyboard with one of those plastic covers are usually what I see in garages. Make sure you don't get a ball mouse, the ball will be covered in crap within a week probably. Cheap optical will work.

But really, what I meant to say is that you should get an Optimus Maximus keyboard + a Diamond Flower mouse.
