Guys, does anyone here know if I takes two HDDs from a machine where they setup in RAID1 configuration and add them to a Synology DS210j, will the data on there be OK or will the disks need to be remade in order to work in there? Problem is I don't have a machine to put these into to take the data off before I put them into a NAS.

    Is this possible?

I'm fairly certain you have to wipe the drives since your transferring it from a computer. I had to when I first got my DS209 anyways.

The red text in this link seems to back me up.

Crap, OK there goes that idea. Thanks mate.

Actually, saying that, it's got me off my backside to build my own server that I can do more with. Cheers :)

It's goodbye data time if you just move them.

    How much data is there?

About 500GB worth. Don't worry mate, I'm going to remount the whole thing in a new case and build my own file server rather than use a NAS.

I've got a 750GB drive you could use to copy the data to if you went the NAS route.
