Occassionally I will realize my folder layout isn't what it should be, and I'm still dumb enough to use dreamweaver's file menu to create folders and move files around.

Dreamweaver is great for creating folders and files, but moving files from folder to folder occassionally screws things up for me.

I just moved a file "main.js.php" from the main folder to "/js/main.js.php". Then I opened the file, modified it a bit, and clicked save.

Then I just get error messages that the path is invalid. So I go into windows explorer, and for some reason every time I try to move a file there is a sharing violation.

So now it's like I can't move the files or edit them, but I can read them, yet they are not marked read only! I can view them in dreamweaver but nothing more.

Looks like I'm going to be copying and pasting and rewriting code to point to new folders... just sucks that I have to do this simply because I used a feature of dreamweaver to save me some time.

    Any tips?

    EDIT:
The error message I get from dreamweaver mx 2004 is:
"A sharing violation occurred while accessing I:\folder\subfolder\js\main.js.php"

make sure the file(s) that you are moving aren't open when you are moving them within dreamweaver...

I seem to have problems if I have dreamweaver open for too long it just gets clogged

Yeah, they were open, so I think it left something in memory somewhere and confused the hell out of it.

I rebooted my computer and all is well. Just sucks because I had my PC up for about 10 days, and one of my websites updates every ten minutes with stats from my PC, so now everyone will know I had to reboot! :p

(by everyone I mean myself and that other guy who looked at the site once :p )
